little old me, believe it or not ...
3 weeks ago I received a PM from a brand-new Eons user, apparently - because there was no real indication otherwise - commenting on a different head shot that I had just donned. In an effort to assure compliance with the Eons TOU I will not post the content in toto here, but in essence it was 'did you take that picture?' ( yes, it was taken by a friend using my camera ) and "\'did you put that caption on it?' ( yes, using MSPAINT ). The reply to my reply was 'it is my picture, you stole it'.
Yeah, right so I fired back: 'bullshit, just go away' and I blocked the user.
I then came to find in more than one Eons group the contention that the picture in question was - at best IMO a turista snap, perhaps a scanned postcard, of a Disney attraction - and that the user ( now renamed after tallbob's suggestion ) was seriously annoyed by my migration of that image from a group that I had inherited the management of to a new group that I had constructed to replace it. When that group change happened, the "now re-enabled" Eons username did not exist and I had no way to "ask permission". Well, seeing as Eons provides postable URL to every image hosted here I just went ahead and did it, along with all of the other images in the old group. ... remember that Eons terms a group Manager "owner" and can you say "implied consent"?
OK, so - said Eons user ( and note that I have yet to name the individual, still making effort to stay within the Eons TOU ... but if you look over your shoulder you'll know who I am referring to ) commenced to:
1) post a msg "Photo-Rip" in several Eons groups, naming yours truly and referring to moi' as a thief, and
2) send me more 'hate mail' ( and got blocked ), and
3) posted 2 "skeltons" as gifts to my profile, along with - ahem - clever textual coment behind them ( I can only imagine what would've been going on if I allowed 'guest comments'! )
OK, so - after reposting the migrated content to the new group in a way that offered the "photographer" credit for the work and clearly showed the original source, I reported some of the above as 'inappropriate material' as is suggested to be the correct course of action. I received confirmation, twice, that Eons had taken action and figured "case closed". I had also asked that one of the #1's above be closed and/or removed ( which it was ) and then - as follow on replies were posted therein - continued defending myself from the snide, outrageous and slanderous allegations.
Then I got personal and - being under the influence of pain killers from surgery last Friday - stitched together a classic Calvin "p*ss on it" image and posted it to The Lunatic Fringe as the conclusion of a "critique this image" thread.
That was a mistake because it got me a 'warning' from Eons. But I DO NOT regret it nor will I apologize for it unless directed to do so. The group post has been removed. Again - case closed.
OK so - today I find ( at last count ) 2 more brand-new slanderous posts from this individual, both of which have been reported to Eons as inappropriate.
We'll see what continues from here on out; I have asked Eons to - in the immortal words of Archie Bunker - "stifle this user once and for all"
Isn't life grand?

That being said, you write very nicely. Sometimes the struggle between an artist and an appropriator is, in itself, a work of art.
I have not seen the threads in question and don't know the participants, so this is totally a fresh glimpse of just your side of it.
"Art", after all, is as much in the eye, mind, & heart of the beholder...
And there are those who would copyright their own original dydees. It is just as well, sometimes, to throw the dydees right back. You know there's more where that came from.
