Dreaming of far-away places I peered into my hollow pumpkin Fall leaves supporting its base Enchantment brewing within... I viewed my whimsies of long ago And found myself Lost in an early snowfall of my endless youth.
Along side a winding stream The crackles of icicles Falling from a still green tree Deposited apples at my feet While song birds serenaded The October skies.
A single fairy dressed in red and green Reminding me of a Halloween And candied apples that made me scream Suddenly appeared in front of me Dangling haplessly from a branch Obstructing my view of the scenery.
“What’s become of you, little girl? And those long brown tresses curling over your shoulders? Where have you gone? In a blink of an eye You seem much older. Mother Autumn will doubtlessly scold you If you don’t soon reclaim The bliss that’s due you!”
“Go away!” I thought, but did not speak Then sat down on a rock and began to think… “Why so pensive? “Why so weary” “When did I become so dreary?”
Living vicariously in life Through myths and fables Every fancy I enabled… Into adventures well worth living Wherefore had I gone?
Short our time upon the earth Limitless our potential for girth! How is it this tiny gourd? Holds all my dreaming – Once so much more broad?
“ Fairy: go collect your family Bring back a brigade I need so badly Of conjurers and night whisperers Jolly old souls, bards and jesters! Bring them here from far and near Back with all my collected imaginings- To pump vitality back into these tired limbs And resuscitate the adventures of yesteryears!

Dreaming of far-away places
I peered into my hollow pumpkin
Fall leaves supporting its base
Enchantment brewing within...
I viewed my whimsies of long ago
And found myself
Lost in an early snowfall
of my endless youth.
Along side a winding stream
The crackles of icicles
Falling from a still green tree
Deposited apples at my feet
While song birds serenaded
The October skies.
A single fairy dressed in red and green
Reminding me of a Halloween
And candied apples that made me scream
Suddenly appeared in front of me
Dangling haplessly from a branch
Obstructing my view of the scenery.
“What’s become of you, little girl?
And those long brown tresses curling over your shoulders?
Where have you gone?
In a blink of an eye
You seem much older.
Mother Autumn will doubtlessly scold you
If you don’t soon reclaim
The bliss that’s due you!”
“Go away!” I thought, but did not speak
Then sat down on a rock and began to think…
“Why so pensive?
“Why so weary”
“When did I become so dreary?”
Living vicariously in life
Through myths and fables
Every fancy I enabled…
Into adventures well worth living
Wherefore had I gone?
Short our time upon the earth
Limitless our potential for girth!
How is it this tiny gourd?
Holds all my dreaming –
Once so much more broad?
“ Fairy: go collect your family
Bring back a brigade I need so badly
Of conjurers and night whisperers
Jolly old souls, bards and jesters!
Bring them here from far and near
Back with all my collected imaginings-
To pump vitality back into these tired limbs
And resuscitate the adventures of yesteryears!
