  • I used to do this kind of Pennsylvania Dutch on chests.............that is the type of art it is...usually when it has writing on it it is referred to as a "Fractur" sp? It would have been put on wedding or hope chests and the like. I have a great book about all this PD art but I am at work and it is at home. regardless it is very nice .

  • I'm still confused, Bill. You asked a 3 fold
question, and still don't have an official reply.

  • Meeker, I like this so much! Has always been a favorite style of mine, touches something in my genes. Part of what I like is the application on the cupboard door- I like decorated objects, they're so rich in history and memory, love the practical application of art.

My gr-gr-gr or something grandmother was a Patriot, a Veteran of the Revolutionary War, Dorothy Gaudelock, born in PA about 1740, died So Carolina 1814, married Henry Tidmore (Heinrich Dietmar), an immigrant from Germany, they married in PA and emigrated to SC. Wish I could see a movie about their lives, but I can imagine a lot when looking at your artwork on this door.

Thank you so much for sharing.
