Career "drivers" is a broad term for factors that influence career choice and professional development. Most often, the term refers to a set of values or motivators that impact overall job satisfaction. Examples include: achievement, autonomy, opportunity to benefit society, need to influence, work/life balance, financial gain, prestige, helping others, etc. Sometimes the term also focuses on certain abilities that define engaging work. For example a person may really be "driven' to do work that involves counseling, quantitative analysis, solving problems, strategic planning, making presentations, or product design. When you explore, it's helpful to know your "drivers." Awareness of these motivators helps you make better career decisions, and also present yourself in a positive light.
