A "bridge job" commonly refers to an interim step between full-time work and traditional non-working retirement. It is a vehicle for phased retirement. Bridge jobs enable individuals to earn income, benefits, and participate in the social community provided by work. Bridge jobs are frequently part-time, and may also be full-time for short durations.
