Eons badges recognize contributions
You don’t have to spend much time on Eons to realize that some members have clearly caught the spirit of what Eons is all about. It could be the group manager who responds to every member’s message with a word of encouragement. A blogger who puts into words what you yourself have longed to say. A member whose profile, LifeMap, or list of LifeDreams are so detailed that you feel you could sit down to coffee or tea with them.
Now there’s a way to recognize these members for their outstanding contributions to the Eons community, through the presentation of Eons Badges. There are 10 in all (see below) and you, as a member, can nominate fellow Eons members for one of more of them.
Some of the badges offered through Eons include:
- The Friendship badge is given to you by other members of the Eons community who acknowledge you for being an exceptional source of fun and support.
- The Humor badge is awarded by other Eons members who appreciate you for being funny and for keeping the community lively and fresh.
- The Story Teller badge recognizes you for sharing your life story fully on your LifeMap, and in the process, inspiring others to do the same.
- The Dreamer badge expresses appreciation for the splendid list of LifeDreams you have shared on Eons. You’re reaching for the biggest life possible, and the Eons community is watching and cheering you on.
- The High Profile badge acknowledges you for creating a profile that richly expresses who you are, and in the process, shows others how to express themselves.
- The Tribute badge honors you for creating a lasting tribute on Eons in member of someone who has passed away, and for sharing that person’s life with the Eons community.
- The Participant badge is awarded to Eons members who help build the Eons community by taking part in groups with people who share their interests.
- The Blogger badge you for writing blogs , posting them frequently, and sparking participation among other Eons members and visitors.
- The Pioneer badge honors you for being part of Eons from the early days. You have consistently helped build this great online community of people 50-plus. Thank you!
- The Member Appreciation badges are awarded at various stages to recognize the length of time you have been an active member of the Eons community.
How to nominate a member for an Eons Badge
Is there an Eons member you think deserves a badge? Nominate them. Just go to the member’s profilie page and click on the “Nominate” link and fill in the form.
Once you nominate someone, that member will receive an email telling them of your nomination. It will take several nominations, from different members, before the member will receive the Friendship or Humor badge. But the email alert will be a great encouragement to the member in the meantime.
Displaying badges on your profile
You will also be notified when a member nominates you for a badge and when it is awarded to you.
Up to three badges will be displayed in your profile. Additional badges will be shown on an additional page, accessible from your profile.
New badges will be added periodically, so check back often.

How to quit the Eons Badges program
We realize that some of our members are simply not interested in Eons Badges. If you are one of them, you have two choices for leaving the program:
- You can "hide" the badges from displaying on your profile page. This way, you will still have the badges and will still be able to nominate other members that you feel should be recognized.
- You can "opt out" of the program completely through your privacy settings (https://login.eons.com/account/myprivacy.
A final note
The Eons Badge program was created to recognize the people who make this online community go. Period. Many people have embraced the badges in the spirit they were intended: to identify and honor those members who are showing us all the way to “do Eons.”
Eons is all about living the biggest life possible. We think the badges are a fun way to celebrate members’ efforts to do just that. But if badges aren’t for you, then just ignore them. Or better, let them go to the people who think they’re pretty cool.
