I love this song and I love Bette Midler. She has such a beautiful voice. This song is especially dear to my heart because it was the one I played over and over again when my son was stationed in Saudi Arabia back in '91 and was sent in the 1st wave to invade Iraq. I was a basket case and even imagined myself leaving my body and flying over the sands to see where he was and make sure he was safe. I was so afraid I would never seen him again. Thankfully, it turned out to be a 6 day invasion. It's been 16 yrs but I still get choked up when I hear that beautiful song.
I fell in love with Bette Midler when she starred in The Rose and I have loved her ever since. I saw her live in Houston, Texas about five years ago and she is breath taking.....Carol
