Along w/many years in Saratoga, I own a mountain home in the High Sierra where I now spend most of my time. Our family has enjoyed many years of camping, hiking, fishing, skiing, etc. in this region. I've also enjoyed trips to Victoria, BC & Toronto, ON, Canada; Washington, Oregon, Iowa, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Bulgaria, The Black Sea, Ephesus, Turkey, Italy, Sicily, & the Mediterranean Islands. My father is Sicilian, so Sicily was like going home for me. My mother was Scotch/Irish, so I hope to go to Scotland & Ireland one day. I also have a dream of going to Israel ...

Because of the threat of swine flu this season, I am posting this at the beginning of my profile ("About Me" is still below).
I am very concerned about the threat of swine flu this season. So I am encouraging everyone to get yourselves on a daily dose of anti-oxidants. In 2006, we almost lost my 87 year old father due to a mis-diagnosed bacterial blood infection. He was on IV anti-biotics for 3 months. Since then, I discovered Isotonix OPC-3 ... I put my Dad on it in May 2008 and he hasn't been sick once. Although he takes it all year, I have him start double dosing before the flu season starts (one capful at night; one in the morning). Because of the Isotonix delivery system, it is in the blood stream within 20 minutes doing it's job of routing out free radicals. It is all natural: grape seed, red wine, pine bark, blueberry and citrus extracts. It MUST be taken every single day! You mix the granules with water and drink it (on an empty stomach) first thing in the a.m. Then wait 20 minutes before eating so that it goes directly into your blood stream and starts it's cleansing work! You can read all about it here: http://www.marketamerica.com/elizabethmarie/topproducts-13009/isotonix-opc3.htm I love this stuff! I haven't been sick either (used to get 5 week long sinus infections throughout the year). Hence, I'm already double dosing for this winter's threat of swine flu ... heading it off at the pass ... Hope this helps you too!Should you decide to try it, sign in as a preferred customer for cash rewards. May you prosper and be in good health!
And now for "About me..."I enjoyed 30 years of marriage,* raising 5 children (3 boys & 2 girls, now ages 40-45) and welcoming ten granchildren (7 boys & 3 girls, now ages 4-17). With all that excitement, and each child being individually fashioned by God, I have lived a very full life of great joy as well as great sorrow, Hence, I am not a surface person, but a deep thinker.
I call myself an Idealistic Realist or, a Realistic Idealist :-) God has blessed me with strength & grace to bring His hope, healing and comfort, oftentimes to those who are lost and forgotten, despised and cast out. I refer to it as being a "friend." Like Jesus, I will go anywhere and help anyone, whether rich or poor, in sickness or in health. Which brings me to one of my favourite topics:
Health & Nutrition ... I have overcome many health challenges in my lifetime through prayer, healthy eating, and exercise. Therefore, I enjoy helping others to enhance their lives by introducing them to healthy lifestyle choices as well. I am a sales rep for Market America's "health and nutrition line." Their Isotonix have completely reversed my immune system! I use the OPC-3, Multi-Vitamin, Advanced B, Calcium and Ultimate Aloe every day. I thank God for these products. I love seeing others getting healthy again and living the full life God intended for them too. It is a joy to my heart. So drop me a line, if your health has been challenged, or you'd just like to be in an offensive position healthwise.
Politically, I am neither far left nor far right for it gets a little bitter on the edges. In my lifetime, I have been, and voted both sides of the ticket. Now at 62, I believe no man or political party can save us, so I am looking to Jesus for a miracle. A country divided against itself shall fall. So I am praying for the "United" States of America. I want my grandchildren to live in a free country without war on our own soil. I am very concerned for our nation as it appears we are spiralling down very quickly; almost in a freefall. So I will continue to pray for the welfare of our nation according to:
II Chronicles 7:14; Jeremiah 29:7-11; I Timothy 2:1-6I love the way God paints! His sunsets are magnificent. The way He decorates the meadows in springtime. I love following the wildflowers as they bloom from early spring at sea level to late summer at 7000 feet! I love the colours of the dogwoods, and the flaming aspens of yellow, pink, orange and red in the autumn. The beautiful blanket of snow that covers the earth in winter. I love the wonder and power of the ocean at any time of year! California is such a wonderful state as we can see any and all of these within a 4 hour drive.
*Sadly, I lost my husband in October 2002. That first year, I was literally dying of a broken heart. But on October 10, 2003, Jesus did what I affectionately call "open heart surgery" on me and I began to live again. Christmas 2007 was the first Christmas that I didn't cry because my husband wasn't with us! I continue to thank God for all the wonderful years we shared. I am a blessed woman; a very grateful child of God.Therefore, because my husband was the "love of my life," I have no interest in dating or any kind of serious relationship, as I truly love love love my new found singleness. And the biggest surprise - I have discovered the joy of celibacy! Who knew ? ! ? ! ?
I love people and enjoy hearing their stories and listening to their hopes, dreams, and yes, even their sorrows. I enjoy both the young, and the old, those who are able and those who are not. I have been ministering for over 30 years. If anyone needs prayer, or a "sounding board" which may include some good advice, feel free to write ... I look forward to hearing from you ... Pastor Betty

Deuteronomy 33:12..."Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in Him, for He shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between His shoulders." Another favourite life verse is, "Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed for I am your God. I have called you by name. Behold, I will strengthen you; I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." Excerpts from Isaiah 41:10; 43:1-3
