History

Places I've been
French Lick Indiana (Hometown), My hometown is French Lick. At age 11, my family moved to another small town located in the middle of a lot of cornfields and hog operations. After I graduated from high school, I lived with my new husband near Fort Hood, Texas. After his tour of duty we returned to the cornfields until we moved to Florida in 1986. I remained in Florida with my two sons after I lost my husband in 1991. In 2003, I moved to Short Gap, WV and worked in Cumberland, MD until I returned to Florida in 2005 for my family. This was a true sacrifice as I love the mountains. I have traveled in nearly 30 of the 50 states and have been just over the border in Canada. Most of my trips have been in mountain states including the Green Mts in Vermont and the White Mts in New Hampshire. The Appalachians are my favorite. It is very pretty in London, KY and Ellijjay, GA where my youngest son and my brother live. Currently, I reside in central Florida with family.

About me

I'm a lot like you.  I have learned a lot the hard way.  Made a bunch of mistakes and done a fair amount of harm to myself and my family.  The good news is that I have also done a lot of good.  I love well and still laugh often.  God is merciful and just and I cannot ask for more than that.

I love old time music, quilts, dulcimers, the Appalachian Mts, campfires, soft rain, strong men with scruffy beards who clean up well, rock and roll, poets, Scrabble, my kids, my grandkids, my sweet Mother, my 'baccy chewin' father-in-law, my little brother and his family, the Lord, and real people.

I would rather make love than have sex and I need to be married to my partner.  I believe the Bible and I am still proud to be an American

I was married at 18 and widowed at 41. I had my oldest son when I was 20 and my youngest son when I was 29.  I lost a baby in between.  I have one little brother,  and I saw his little girl born, his wife is as  crazy as me and we are working on a cookbook. I have one daughter-in-law from WV who loves me.  but does not understand me.  I have two ex daughters-in-law, one of them shoulda never got away.  One of them gave me my little Joel.

I would love to fall in love again, but I am not desperate.  I'd like to marry a good friend who makes me laugh and will hold me when I cry.

Money talks, but it is not the loudest voice I listen to.  I just need to feel secure and be responsible.

I still want to write a book, but have a hard time writing letters.  I love stories and I would like to hear yours.

I love to travel, still hope to see Ireland.  I often go for rides and see what's down that road I haven't taken before.

I like to hear babies laugh, old women cuss, rain on a tin roof, and men sing.

Watching my children hurt is worse than the cancer I have survived.  I hate lying and have little patience with stupidity.  My Daddy was a hell raiser and used to say he was right 10 out of 9 times and he was.  He gave me pink sweetheart roses one year at Valentines and so much love all my life.  My Mother prays for me and puts up with all my stuff.

My sons call me Mom and other things and my grandsons call me Granny and that is who I am.
