More about me

The first 45 years of my life were pretty conventional but in 1977 my husband left his work in industrial middle management, we bought 20 acres, & tried "back to the land" living for a while.  We designed & built our own berm house, raised our own food, and bought a small business to earn enough the cash we needed.  I raised bees and sheep, bought a loom & a spinningwheel & learned to make cloth.  I took a job to pay for the new house & in 1992 was offered a job in Florida so we sold everything we owned & moved to the coast, bought a 32' sailboat on which we lived for the next 8 yrs.  After we retired in 1996 we traveled the east coast & the Bahamas on our boat/home.  In 2001 we moved ashore, sold the boat, & learned again to be landlubbers. In 2009 we moved to GA to be closer to one of our kids in our old, old age.  Now we're on a lake, in the woods, and enjoy seeing our kids/grandkids more than a day or two twice a year.

When asked what I did before I retired I have to ask which life. It has been an interesting run and as we play out our final hands, we have few regrets.
