Though born in Illinois I did not remain there for long- ended up an Air Force brat so had the opportunity of traveling in my younger years. Since personality develops from nature & nurture I got most of mine I think from people around me that impacted me in various ways. Luckily, most of that influence was very positive so I ended up with a strong determination & will to persevere through good & bad times, while not losing one's sense of humor! Growing up we traveled from one coast to the other, spent time in the southwest in Roswell, NM, while dad was stationed with the 509th bomb squadron, moved to Portsmouth,NH, then onto Biloxi, Mississippi & finally to Minot, ND where I graduated from HS & nursing school. Married, divorced after 21 yrs, raised 2 wonderful kids in the interim & decided to take myself on an adventure again at 40 so did some traveling nursing for a few years. I ended up in Virginia after my wanderlust was satiated because it affords me the pleasure of the 4 seasons. Lordy, this country is beautiful! Driving across it can mean so much to anyone who takes the time to stop & see its wonders. As a kid seeing it you only want to know" when do we get there?" yet as an adult we can actually take the time to enjoy it. Perspective gets developed, awe at man's accomplishments, wonder at the beauty of it & grace at the fact it is "ours" as a nation. I'm still exploring. It works for me.

Well,my world has changed. I made a move to SC from VA in the past year to be closer to my children-especially my son & grandsons since he is going through a divorce.  My family means everything to me so here I am starting over with them surrounding me. The transition to new surroundings includes a new job, new ways of doing things, & new faces has insured this old dog WILL learn new tricks or else.

Life is the process of living. I'm doing THAT with every breath I take. What a rollercoaster RIDE this has been this year. David Bowie was right in his song "Changes" - they continue to make my life as full as it can get.

love reading- my idea of heaven is being locked into a humongous library with my coffee & cigarettes & good music being played softly in the background ( yes, I am politically incorrect for some- I do have 2 habits - caffeine, nicotine, yet my job is to wear out before I ever rust out & enjoy it my way while I'm here)

in my youth I was a dog person, time passed & I ended up being a cat person due to a housewarming gift...first, Mischief ( Persian)came along because my girlfriend did not believe in giving me a houseplant because I was alone. 2nd came Dobby( feral kitten) from my daughter on mother's day. 3rd came Oreo( orphan) from an unknown giver in a walmart parking lot one day. Enough already, no more, I feel like I'm becoming the cat lady of New Kent which was NEVER my intention. I have to admit they are entertaining & I have had to change my mind about felines.....
