In my life I have had three related careers; I was in broadcasting & public affairs in the United States Navy, I was an owner of commercial broadcasting properties, and I was chair of a national public broadcasting organization.

My wife, Nettie, was awarded a PhD on March 24, 2009 after several years of amazing tenacity and plain old hard work.  We have one child in undergraduate school, but she will be graduated with a teaching degree in May--fortunately she has already received an offer to teach sixth grade.  Three of our six children are married and have children of their own but, sadly, they live so far away that we don't get to see our grandchildren often enough.  We have ten grandchildren and another on the way.

I retired from broadcasting in 2002, but I am currently serving my second term as a human rights commissioner.  I have also been involved with cultural and civil rights organizations for years. 

My wife and I have been traveling quite a bit in recent years and recently completed (June08) our personal tour of all the major league baseball parks; we liked the ballparks in Detroit, Arlington TX, and the new one in St Louis the best.

We drove coast-to-coast and back to the Heartland in both 2007 & 2008, followed by trips to Europe.  In 2007, we spent a month traipsing around Italy and staying with dear old friends from a time of residence in Italy a couple of decades ago.  In 2008, we took a cruise to Scandinavia, Russia, Estonia, and Poland followed by another trip to Italy.  We had a ball and fell in love, unexpectedly, with Copenhagen.

In late May, our first travel adventure of 2009 took us to Seattle, where we met Eons member, Jenterline, and her husband for dinner.  We had a wonderful time--they are very nice people.  The next day we embarked upon our cruise ship for a trip up to Alaska.  I shall post as many Alaska photos as I am able during the month of June.  We hope to get to Florida, the Outer Banks (OBX) of North Carolina, and Chicago sometime this summer to see all of our grandchildren.  Maybe a trip to the new Yankee Stadium and CitiField in NYC will be in the works as well.
