Places I've been

I've been to Parris Island SC; Camp Lejeune NC....was stationed in Washington DC for about 6 months - learned to drive a car in the Jefferson memorial parking lot. I've picked strawberries in Dover DE....been through various states on Interstate 40, and 10 on my way to Ohio and Florida. So as you can see, I have a lot more states to cover to reach one of my life goals!

Can't believe someone is asking me to talk about ME....well, let's start:  Mexican princess who everyone thought was going to be a nun runs off to the Marine Corps, has a great time in DC and encounters a certain youngman who definitely shows her she is NOT nun material.  After 37 years together, she is alone - he died recently and now I have to find out who I am....rediscover myself.....and hopefully not become a nun.....

Now really, all I did when growing up was read a lot - is that nunish????   Little did they know that I was reading Falcons of France, Pearl Lagoon, sci fi and stories about smoke jumpers.....maybe I should have run off to the forest service????   Is it my fault I didn't get interested in boys until last three months of HS....my loves were Sgt. Moffett, Mr. Spock and Napoleon Solo, and a certain school photographer, who looked a lot like Moffett. 

When I met my future husband, John, I thought he looked like Moffett too but since I was not using my glasses  (I'm practically blind...well close to it), it wasn't until I was already infatuated that I found out what he really looked like.  Oh, the vanity of youth!  But he was cute so I decided to keep him....so 37 years later and (just over a week after the 37 years mark) he passed away and I miss his laughter and his sparkling eyes and his laugh wrinkles at the corner of his eyes. 

We collected old sci fi movies - we have quite a few and loved to watch them over and over and try to remember the dialogue so we could chime in.....so like Godzilla would say:  "grrrrrrrr". 

 

 

Activities

Reading, drawing, beading, playing with my grandbabies, getting interested in car races - my son gets free tickets and they are fun!

Country, and oldies - all of them - big band even....and classical...just don't ask me to name the classical stuff - i just like to listen....to music and if I can sing along (Mitch Miller) then its great!

DC, Big Bear (because I can see lots of stars), Seal Beach pier having breakfast at Ruby's and feeling it sway when the ships land, oh, anywhere along the coast would be great. I would like to visit Australia (lots of coast) and Japan (ditto).

cockatiels, cats, lizards, tortoises, parakeets, guinea pigs....maybe a whippet.
