More about me

After spending most of my working life in various areas of health care, I finally retired.

Somewhere in between that, I spent some time in a monastery, and later in a missionary community working on behalf of refugees fleeing severe violence in their countries.

California is where 4 generations of my family were located, but I now live in Nevada with my husband, and a cleaver, energetic rat terrier.  We stay away from gambling.;-)

As a developing artist, my focus is on digital art, drawing, and painting with watercolors and gouache.  I get much joy and peace in my work.

Art and spirituality are very important to me, but I am not limited to that alone.

Nature and the environment, issues related to social justice and peace draw me to them through interest and involvement.

Pretty much anything that focuses on serious issues in an intelligent way is of interest to me.

Favorite Books

Currently reading: "Lucid Waking" by Georg Feuerstein. I finished the mind blowing books, "Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls", by Michael Newton, PhD. I break away from serious reading to enjoy Kurt Vonnegut.

Activities

Drawing and painting, reading, and some writing of poetry and short stories, none for publication. Unfortunately, I am unable to spend time hiking in nature anymore, which was one of my favorite things.

Favorite Charities

Many, but primarily those which empower people, and that work to protect our environment. I support non-violent social action. Organizations: L'Arche USA, , Catholic Worker communities, American Friends Service Committee, Oxfam America, Amnesty International USA, Born Free USA, Habitat for Humanity, Global Response, Natural Resources Defense Council. Friends of Earth (US), Non-violence International.

Favorite Music

Classical, some opera, with occasional Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Enya, and Santana thrown in.

Favorite Places

Ocean and mountains. (Santa Cruz to Cambria in CA, Catalina, High Sierra Mountains) We live in the high desert, on the lower elevations of one of the mountain ranges surrounding the Las Vegas valley.

All, but dogs can manipulate my heart. :-)
