I've lived in Denver since 2005. I've also lived in Germany and various places in Texas, the best of which was Austin (30+ years). I've visited Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Mexico and Canada. The only states I have not visited are some of the ones around the edges: Vermont, Maine, S. Carolina, Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Alaska and Hawaii. It's a life goal to get to all 50.

I grew up in deep East Texas. For those of you who don't know the area, let's just say it was conservative. I think it might be different now, but back then there were two things I thought must be true: #1) the stork must have gotten blown off course and dumped me in Texas by mistake, and #2) I must have been adopted. Number 1 is still true, but Number 2, guess not.
I ran away from home as soon as I could, which turned out to be right after my 21st birthday. I wanted to be absolutely sure that it was legal and no one could make me go back. I traveled in Europe with a girl I knew, had a great time, got a job, met a soldier I stayed for and got married to, and lived over there for a year or so. Had my only child there.
Fast forward a few years. I got a divorce, lived in a commune (nudist, no less!), and tried all the experiments of that era. I came out the other side wiser and worse for wear.
I decided to go to college and get my degree in my late 20's. LOVED IT! Loved learning new things, loved talking to smart people, loved stretching my mind, loved everything about it. Yes, people in deep East Texas did go to school, but college for girls wasn't something normally done, at least with most of the girls I knew. Getting married was best. Getting a job was OK. College? Hmm. Suspect.
I did well, and liked the University so much that after several years doing other things, I returned and worked there. I retired early so I could move to Denver to be near my daughter and only grandchild. It has been WONDERFUL to be here in Colorado. This is where the stork was supposed to have dropped me off in the first place.

Sunday Morning is the BEST show on television for 25 years now. On the current roster, I discovered that the "other" networks have some truly excellent shows: Damages (with Glenn Close), Saving Grace (Holly Hunter) Bones, Lie to Me, Life, Life on Mars. I love The Mentalist. Simon Fuller is easy on the eyes.

My favorite used to be Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but I've seen it so many times with my granddaughter I can't stand it anymore. The Oompa-Loompa song drives me nuts! Nowadays I like foreign and independent films, and usually enjoy a good old fashioned American blockbuster, as long as it doesn't have too much blood and guts in it.

I've been an avid reader all my life, so much so that my third grade teacher took me out for ice cream after school so I could read out loud to her husband. Impressive, huh? My favorite genre is mystery. I like Rick Riordan (I used to be a member of his family) all 3 Kellermans, Sue Grafton, Diane Mott Davidson, Patricia Cornwell, and especially the clever Laurie R. King, who invented a smart female to match wits with good old Sherlock Holmes. I think I've read everything by Agatha Christie, plus much of what all the other oldies but goodies have written.
