Hi all, I am a 73 year old widow. I enjoy writing Christian poetry, doing computer artwork, make temari ( Japanese embrodiery done on thread wrapped balls) knitting and playing the piano just enough for my own amazement or amusement. I have 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I love to walk and I attend church on a regular basis. I like to read just before I go to bed as it helps me to wind down from a busy day and it helps me to sleep.

My art history
As a child I didn't like art at all. But when I got into HS I would see the art class getting to go outside to paint and draw, so decided to take art classes. Through the years I have gone to painting and drawing classes. I took tole painting classes for a couple of years, and the teacher would always scold me for making paintings of fruits and veggies very bright, she wanted me to dull the colors with white, but that is not how I see fruits and veggies. In the grocery store the most colorful section is the produce department. When I got my computer art program I just played around with it, but when I lost use of my skilled hand I found that the computer program could fulfill my need to create art.
As I wile away the hours on my computer,
Doing works of art,
To add beauty to your world,
I try to do my part.
So many of the works I do,
Never will be seen,
As I just don't like them,
As they are sent to the recycle bin.

Here is a poem I wrote when I was going through a severe trial in my life and having a friend who comforted me.
FEEL SUCH LOVE
One day when I had a problem,
A friend sat at the table with me,
And as I shared how I felt,
In her face the Lord I could see.
She listened ever so quietly,
About the things I really feel,
And the response I saw in her,
Was a love I knew was so real.
There were times with her,
When I would almost cry,
As I saw such compassion,
As I'd see a tear in her eye.
As she left my house that day,
I prayed to the Lord above,
And thanked Him for sending one,
Who could make me feel such love.

Mothers
Mothers From Her Head To Soles of Her Feet
God gave us mothers and gave her wonderful features. He gave her tresses of blonde, red, brown and black. As children we love to caress her hair. To feel the silkiness of it and to smell the lingering scent of her shampoo.
Under that hair God gave her a brain the is able to expound to us the truths of life we need. She uses her brain to tell us of the wonders of life.
Just below the brain He gave her 2 eyes with which she is able to see the wonders of life and see the beauty of her children so she can thank God for the blessings of life.
Next He gave her 2 ears with which to hear the cries of her children and know when they need help. She also uses these ears to listen to us say our first words, hear our laughter and hear about our dreams.
He gave her a nose so she can smell things and know the signals of danger, the smell of the baby powder she uses on our bottoms and the fragrances of the flowers we pick from the garden to surprise her.
He gave her a mouth and a voice so she can tell us of the love she has for us and the love she has for God. She will be careful with the words she speaks to us and make sure they are words that will help and not cause us pain. He gave her a voice which she can sing us lullabies and sing her favorite hymns about her love for God.
He gave her a neck so we will have a place to wrap our arms.
He gave her shoulders so we will have a soft place to fall and express the things that distress us from time to time.
He gave her a tender heart that swells with pride as we do what is right and almost breaks as we chose to do that which is wrong.
He gave her arms with which she can hold us and let us know that she loves us.
He gave her hands with which she can sew us clothes, make our food, and caress our faces. Her touch most of the time will be tender, but there will be times when she must be firm with her hands for our good.
He gave her a lap into which we can crawl when we need comforting.
He gave her knees so she can get down on our level and play childhood games.
He gave her feet with which she can come to us to care for our every need.
So when we think of our mothers let’s remember that she was wonderfully put together by our loving God, and remember to praise her every day not just on Mothers Day.
