- More about me
-
I’m the eldest of 8 kids. My mom had me at a very early age and subsequently at 18 months; I was given to my great aunt and uncle who raised me. I didn’t find out about my birth mom, or that I had sisters and brothers until I was 10.
With the exception of my youngest sister who lives in Florida, my birth mom and siblings all live in New York.
Married 32 years, my husband and I are enjoying our time as 'empty-nesters.'
My son is a U.S. Marine. He’s already done a tour in Iraq and, now he’s been deployed to Japan. Soon, he’ll be shipping out for sea duty. In between serving his country, he took time out to take a bride. She’s a sweetheart. We’re looking forward to attending the ‘big’ wedding next year in California.
My daughter lives in Ohio. She's a teacher's assistant raising two kids (6 year old twins) alone. She's a sweetheart too.
After 35 years of on again, off again schooling, I finally graduated from college in May of 2007receiving my BA in Computer Studies. I’ve always wanted to be a librarian and I’m thinking I’m almost ready to go back for that MLS degree.
My husband, who was a Chicago Firefighter, officially retired last December, after 30 years on the job. He was always on busy companies and so gung ho and passionate about being a firefighter that it’s taken me eight months, but now I finally believe him when he tells me that he doesn’t miss being a firefighter. After suffering concussions, burns, numberous scraps and bruises, a heart attack, plus 3 knee operations - all from duty related, with the most recent operation taking place, last year in March, he's just happy to be able to leave the job relatively healthy.
Our home has been on the market for a year and a month already. Originally, we had planned to move to San Antonio, TX. But earlier this month, my husband and I decided to move to Ohio, to be with my daughter and grandkids instead. So, while we’re still able to, we’re enjoying our time as ‘empty-nesters.’
