We have been lucky to travel a bit - but mainly in the US. Loved the west - Wyoming, Colorado, Utah - The Grand Tetons took our breath away - truly God's country. We managed to "do a cruise" once - went to the Bahamas - got to swim with the dolphins - which was a big dream of mine. Florida became our routine vacation and we were planning to retire there someday.

I'm "Nanny", named by my princess granddaughter as soon as she was able to form words. My daughter has twins, a boy and girl, Jackson and McKenzie - my princess - they are 8. My son has three girls, Kelsey Ann 8, and Elizabeth and Emily 4 who are also twins. Yes I'm truly blessed!! My daughter-in-law and son-in-law are very special to me as well.
Randy and I were married after going together almost 2 years. For me it was love at first sight - yea I know pretty corny. But its true - he was tall, dark and handsome and knocked me off my feet. I saw him long before I met him and told my co-worker that he was the guy I would marry. We would have been married 42 years January 9, but he died January 1 this year.
I have always worked full time along with doing all of the other things we women seem to do with a family. We moved from the city to the country the weekend before the blizzard of 78. I had never had patio doors before and I just knew the wind was going to blow them in. We did have snow in our formal living room as it faced the west and the wind just blew that snow through the windows!!
I grew up on the old east side of Indianpolis - had 4 younger brothers and a Mom and Dad who worked all of the time. One worked nights the other days so that one would always be home with us. What we lacked in niceties was more than made up for with loving faithful parents. Being the oldest I began working as soon as I graduated high shool to help out. But all four of my brothers had some college - two graduated with degrees. Of course 3 of them also was in the military - this was when the draft was still in force - and served in Viet Nam. They were in the Navy and Air Force so didn't see any hand to hand combat - thank God. They were happy to serve their country - just following in Dad's footsteps - he was in the Army during WWII - and received a purple heart for his injury. They didn't serve in the Army or Marines - Dad made sure of that encouraging them to join rather than wait to be drafted.
My family is very musical - Mom and Dad played in a band up until Mom died 4 years ago at the age of 80. Dad still plays once in a while - he is 89. Guitars, singing and country music - heard it from when my ears first began to work. There is a song that was sort of Mom and Dad's "anthem". Its called "Put me in your pocket" and is about a soldier going to war with his girl having to stay behind. I have such sweet memories of them singing it together. Dad tried to sing it for us after Mom died - but couldn't finish. One brother is still playing with bands - works full time as well - got into it while serving in the Navy - never gave it up. I played piano - but as a teenager had better things to do you know. Now I'm thinking I'll try to play again - probably need lessons - know anyone who will try to teach an "old dog" new tricks?
