I was born in Belle Glade, Florida (a third generation native Floridian!) and grew up in Cocoa, Florida. I saw the first U.S. communications satellite (Telstar) launched from Cape Canaveral.

Places I've been

High School Name: Cocoa High School, Rockledge, Florida. Cocoa Tigers Class of 1969. Occupations: I was a (bad) singer in a rock and roll band, a bartender, and a disc jockey. Then I "grew up" and worked in the insurance and then the accounting fields for years. I finally became a reference/resource librarian and a certified literacy tutor. Now I grow orchids!

I loved my "forties" and love my "fifties" even more...except for the aches and pains! Health issues forced me into early retirement at 49 but as I'm able to I have actually done many of the things I planned to do when I retired at 62...I just do them real slow! My passion is growing orchids My Sweetie and I have over 3000 now. I also collect mineral specimens. I love to cruise the Caribbean and snorkel. My granddaughter calls me "Nana Flower" and she is my joy and delight!!

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Wuthering Heights, Forrest Gump, Shakespeare in Love, Crash, Dreamgirls and because I'm a chick, Dirty Dancing and An Officer and a Gentleman.

The Wonder Years, China Beach, Ally McBeal, Northern Exposure, The X-Files, The Closer, Army Wives, Saving Grace, Bones, House and, yeah, American Idol.

Activities

Growing orchids, rockhounding, jewelry making, snorkeling, creating stuff out of found objects and being an EONS manager or moderator on a couple of groups. This year I'm growing a container veggie garden.
