Places I've been

Hmmm... Well, not as many as I'd like, but maybe a few too many to name here. I lived in Charlotte, N.C. and Charleston, S.C. in my wild and crazy 20's. Savannah, Georgia and Asheville, N.C. are both only several hours away and both are among my favorite cities. Myrtle Beach is three hours away, and my family vacationed there every summer until i was 18 and left home. I'm a one-time visitor to New York City (so far) and have been to Washington, D.C. several times, on business and pleasure. Went to New Mexico about a year ago and California two years ago on business. And of course I've traveled some through Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.

 Favorite music : CSN, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Cream, Simon and Garfunkle, Hendrix, Joplin, Allman Brothers, Neil Young, etc., etc., etc.............Too many to name them all, but mostly classic rock with some folk , some Country Western, and a few of the new artists.

 I have two great daughters, Christen, 23, -married to Mark with one beautiful 2 year old baby boy, and Melissa, 25, a computer support technician.  I've been divorced since Nov. of 1995, and I'm happy to say that my ex and I exist in relatively amicable circumstances since we both still live in the same town, and we both see our children and grandchild often. Bound to run into each other sometimes, so it's best to move on and wish each other well. Over all that and on to new and happier days ahead.

I have worked with low-income and special needs preschoolers since 1990, and before that I taught in the elementary grades.

My major in college was Psychology with a minor in History, which I still enjoy. 

I read alot, and enjoy drawing and working in the yard, although, alas, I can hardly claim a green thumb.  I like doing calligraphy, and some crafts.  Of course, my favorite pasttime is my grandson, Nicholas, who I'm certain is the smartest and sweetest and most talented child ever born.

Some of my favorite movies: To Kill A Mockingbird, The Last of The Mohicans, Dr. Zhivago, Gone With The Wind,  Some Like It Hot, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, The Graduate, The Sting, ...........

 Favorite Books:  The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, and most of the earlier Stephen King.  My library is totally out of control because every book at Goodwill looks like a potential must read.  "Desiderata" sums up a lot of the way I see life.

I plan to take guitar lessons at some point in the future,  I enjoy camping if I can find someone else who will go, and I have liked fishing since I was just a little girl going with my daddy. Love cooking out. I would like to take up hiking, although I'm sure I would have to start slowly with that.  I just bought a little Eclipse Spyder convertible (five years old, but new to me)because I like riding with the breeze in my hair and the stereo going strong. I thought if I was going to ever get one, it was a good time to do it right now. I love it !!  Can't wait to take her up into the mountains with a little Steppenwolf in the CD player....

I consider myself Independent politically and have voted for Reagan, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry.  I would have considered John McCain, but I think he lost me with his patronizing visit to Bob Jones University. I am certainly no fan of our current administration, but am an ardent supporter of all US veterans (my father, my hero, was a WWII Marine veteran of Iwo Jima, Saipan and Tinian) and will forever be thankful for their service to preserve the freedom of my family and myself.

I'm interested in friendship with both males and females. Not really anxious to marry again.  But then, you never know what the future holds.
