More about me

I'm an artist specializing in oil paintings of Nature and have won numerous awards for my work. One of my paintings is soon to be featured in Best of Michigan Artists and Artistans. I'm a wife and a mother of a 16 year old. I have served on the board of directors for a major electrical company and been active in Border Collie rescue. Yes, my paintings are signed! Where? Good question! Keep looking and you might find it (although that might be difficult on these small photos - the paintings are usually 30x40 or larger). I do not make my signature obvious, I make it part of the painting. Symbolic of being part of nature. The point of my work is to make you look closely at the beauty of nature. I also want you to look closely at my work so if you want to find my signature, you have to really look. ;) This is sort of the "where's waldo" of signatures.

 

This is NOT photo-realism! Trust me, it isn't. I am not trying to create paintings that look like a photograph and in fact while my work may have a lot of detail they also has a depth which is not captured in a photograph. I prefer to think of my style as "Sharp Focus Impressionism". There is a lot of "me" in these paintings, qualities that would never be found in a photograph.

Activities

Polymer Clay jewelry. When I'm not painting I'm learning to master this beautiful and flexible medium. If it is done with hands, I do it: knit, sew, weave, basket weave, beading, embroidery etc. I'm not active in all of these at the moment but you never know. Reading! Taking care of a herd of beasties - cats and dogs just seem to find me. Walks in the woods. Computer games.

Dictionary; Too many to list. I love to read and read a wide variety of books: history, fiction, true crime, mysteries, sci-fiction, gardening, field guides, etc. I will sometimes get into a particular genre. When I find a wonderful author I read everything!
