I am recently mostly retired from a professional career. Iam attempting to write, both non fiction local history and stories. I have trouble with my character descriptions and dialogue. Otherwise great on titles and plot.
Divorced with two adult children living elsewhere. Have done a lot of traveling so hope to incorporate those experiences into my writing.
Any suggestions?

I have a few suggestions for you in writing. I have taught writing for elementary students at the college level and I hope that these suggestions may help you in writing:
1. to be a good writier you must read, read, read;
2. carry a small notebook with you and write down sights and thoughts that come to you during the day;
3. after you choose your topic, example: a historic time period, do an exhaustive search of that time period for ideas.
4. as you write, let your thoughts flow uninterrupted;
5 do not worry about grammar or mechanics as you write; you can clean-up your writing with the next draft.

When were you in Nome, Alaska? Why Nome???? There are warm beaches to visit and cold
