Lived in Germany 82-84 and 88-90. Traveled a lot. Lots to see in Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Austria. 2 trips to UK. Especially enjoyed Folk Costume & Dance events. Up and down the Rhine many times. Anyone else think the Moselle is more picturesque than the Rhine? My favorite place is Vienna. Love the music and history of that city. Went to a lot of Zoos which I really love. Growing up I traveled a bit on the train. To St. Louis & Chicago. NYC in c.57, NewYearsEve in TimesSquare. To see Mummers in Philadelphia NewYear's Day. Many trips to Florida. St. Augustine one of my favorite places. Also like Cherokee,N.C.
More about me

I really enjoy  the Internet....for research of books I read and want to read; interests such as horses, cats, Russian art, Royalty now and then, British History, webcams in remote and faraway places, learning about all the new countries in Eastern Europe, and Africa...No limit...I feel sorry for  people who don't realize that the Internet has everything on it....Not just dangerous topics, and /or child molestors.   Parents need to keep a very close watch on their children online.

When I am looking up something online, I find that one thing leads to another.   Book reviews, movie reviews.  My eyesight is getting bad from too much scrolling....lol

I am presently very involved in gardening...Flowers and a few vegetables.  I have several kinds of tomatoes, zuchini and yellow squash, beans, cucumbers and bell peppers.    It is very time consuming to be successful. My dream is to have something in bloom all year round.  It can be done, but takes a lot of planning, a bit of $$ and ability to get up and down, up and down......and where I live .......put up with intense heat and humidity.

I live in a hurricane prone area.   I was anxious enough BEFORE Katrina.....But now I find hurricane season keeps me on pins and needles a lot.   I would truly love to move away from here, but that is a hard thing to do when you are over 60 years old, and have accumulated tons of "belongings"....

I work part time, and visit the library as often as I can.

Love to watch any winter sports, and am always glued to the TV during Winter Olympics.

We seem to have a lot in common. My husband's background is German (Bavarian) and we belong to a German Schulplattler club founded by his father here in New York. We have been to Bavaria many times and once took a cruise along the Danube stopping at all the Christmas markets and ending up in Vienna, a beautiful city I'd like to visit again. I see you also like Gerald Durrell. Don't hear that name very often. I still treasure my Penguin paperback "My Family and Other Animals" which was given to me as a teenager. I re-read it every once in a while. It still makes me laugh!
