Hometown: Several - born in Tulsa, OK.
Places I've been: Grew up in Chanute, KS, then to the Denver area. Lived in FL, NC, WA, and now, VA in the DC area. Have visited everywhere in US except Great Lakes states. Visited Japan once (military). My favorite places to visit - good ol' KS (good friends in SEK & KC, MO) and Colorado. I WANT to say I've been to Europe - maybe this year!!! (Italy - great food!!)
More about me: I'm a Midwest & Colorado girl, although I currently live in Northern VA. Oldest of 4 kids; half my fam lives in Denver. Have gone back to school to study horticulture. I work for a fantastic plant nursery, and for a chiropractor. I love working at the nursery w/plants, and very "down-to-earth" people - no pun intended!!! I have 4 kids - the youngest is 18. My faith in God and my family, close friends, are very important to me. Thanks to my good buddy in Burlington, KS that turned me on to Eons. It has been fun - feel like I'm kinda slow in figuring out the computer end of things - like uploading photos. (Any help is much appreciated!) Have just begun to visit/consider relocating to Buncleville. Without a doubt, the cultural center of the universe. Try it!
Activities: Grew up loving horses (still ride occassionally), baseball, reading, art, and music (piano/guitar, specifically.) Still love baseball - Red Sox!! Pro football is great - New England and Denver. I am a plant nut - love learning about horticulture and working in a nursery. I have so enjoyed Eons; wish we could talk face-to-face.
Favorite Charities: Dalit Freedom Network, although there are many wonderful charities.
Favorite Music: Still love music of all kinds - classical, jazz (Everything from Ella Fitzgerald to Dave Koz, to Winton Marsalis), some rock, a tad of country, bluegrass. I love the piano - like playing Bach, Clementi, Beethoven but am not very good. Fav guitarists - Doug Smith, Leo Kottke, ARMIK is awesome! Like the Beatles, Cream, Clapton, Dan Fogelberg, Pure Prairie League. Saw Doc Watson once - he was incredible. Like Rascal Flatts a lot, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Would love to attend a Charlie Daniels concert. I really enjoy a lot of jazz. My dad liked Sarah Vaughn, so I grew up listening to her - what a voice.
Favorite TV Shows: All Red Sox games I can see. Home Improvement, "24", Grey's Anatomy, NCIS, CSI sometimes. Loved "Mystery" - Poirot, Inspector Morse, Miss Marple - Jeeves and Wooster was a hoot. And of course, All Creatures Great and Small. Still enjoy watching those! Nero Wolfe - great stuff.
Favorite Movies: To Kill a Mockingbird, Regarding Henry, Tom Clancy stories, Lord of the Rings, Second Hand Lions, thought Wild Hogs was hilarious. I'm a Jane Austen fan - Pride and Prejudice (6-hr), Emma, Sense & Sensibility. Liked Reign of Fire, and (yes, I've had a deprived past)...just watched all of the B.Willis "Die Hards". 16 Blocks was great, too.
Favorite Books: I love to read! Reading the Bible impacted my life tremendously - and along w/that, Francis Shaffer, CS Lewis, Francine Rivers, To Kill A Mockingbird, Seabiscuit, Herman Wouk's "Winds of War/War & Remembrance", have read almost all of Rex Stout's "Nero Wolfe" books and Agatha Christie. I treasure James Herriot's books. Like some of Dick Francis' novels, and enjoy Grisham. My latest discovery is David Baldacci. His novels get better and better, and he lives nearby!
Favorite Quotes: I love the "Shakespearean insults" on igoogle: Thou art a fool. I am loathe to beat thee!" "Thou mammering rampallian gudgeon! " "Thou droning idle-headed pignut!" On the serious side - love this from R. Foster's book on prayer: God "aches over our distance and preoccupation." "He invites us into the living room of His heart, where we can put on old slippers & share freely. He invites us into the kitchen of His friendship, where chatter & banter mix in good fun. He invites us into the dining room of His strength, where we can feast to our heart's delight. He invites us into the study of His wisdom where we can learn & grow & stretch...& ask all the questions we want."
Favorite People: my kids, Ken & Sylvia, Sue & Starlene, Jan, Joni, Sam, Vicki, my brothers and their wives, Historywise - very fascinated by Francis and Edith Schaffer, CS Lewis, Lincoln AND Robt. E Lee. Favorite Biblical character - David, Abraham, Peter, and Priscilla.
Favorite Places: Colo. Rockies (especially up behind Snowmass & Aspen), Guanella Pass, and Fall River Run in Rocky Mtn. Nat'l Park. KS will always feel a bit like home to me. Virginia is a beautiful state, and the Shenandoah Valley is awesome. Love Maine, N. Carolina coast, and Arizona up by Cottonwood & Sedona. North of Seattle is beautiful, but too much rain/clouds to stay there very long. I miss the "big-sky" feeling in KS & Colo.
Favorite Animals: Horses, horses, dogs. Enjoy birdwatching - glad they are outdoors and not in my house. We now have a kitty - a 1st for me. He's a stitch, but definitely ADD!

Hello, Miss Katelede...You sound nice and the parts of your profile that I read are fun, like reading a book. I empathize with you about computer stuff and I had that problem, too. It is a 100 times easier with the iMac purchased in Feb, 2008. Perhaps, you could look into that. Gave my HP laptop (that always had viruses or whatever?) to one of MY four children (just like you have!). I am not proficient in it yet because there is just too much of everything else to do!!! Love my flowers and all of that, too! Plus my two dogs who are my grandchildren (until I get some or not). I am a few years older than you and I admire you for having the fortitude to go back to school in your horticulture. Did you know that in China, in some of the far and away interiors, there are still many flowers and plants not classified and barely ever seen?? Saw that on CCTV (the China broadcast station) or the Travel Channel. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see all of those?? Oh, well. Try the Apple brand of computers, if possible.
