More about me

After retiring from a long career in Health Care, Hubby and I set out to see the world.  We have both been seriously bit by the travel bug.  Our two sons are adults, both busy with successful careers, our pet cat died of old age, so we sold our home of 25 years, moved into a Townhouse.  Now we don't have home maintenance to worry about.  We are both healthy and active, so this is the perfect time in our lives to get up and go.

I now have a new career doing some part time contract work with the HOA that rules our development.  Happily, this work can be done in my own time, so doesn't interfere with our travel plans.

Where have we been?  All 50 states to start with, then Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Bahamas, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, Russia, Finland, Greece, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, China, Japan, Thailand.  We completed a trip to Northern India in the spring of 2008, then a trip to New Zealand and Australia in November.

So far in the year of 2009 our travels have included this:

In January we flew off to Utah to visit son, D-I-L, and Grandson.  March saw us enjoying "spring break" on South Padre Island, Texas. We had a visit with my brother and his wife in N. Carolina late in April, then a re-visit in May to play nurse after both of them had major surgery.  In August we did a cruise to Nassau with a son and his family and spent a few days in Miami.  We visited Dubai and Egypt in November, then in December we were off to Utah again to visit son and family.

So far in 2010 we have visited the Central America countries of Honduras and Guatemala.  At some point we need to visit Nicaragua and Belize, that would complete our visit to all of the Central America Countries. In early June we had a family get-together in N. Dakota, then our grandson stayed a month with us. September was busy with a visit from a brother followed by a trip to PuntaCana, Dominican Republic. December saw us heading back to Utah for Christmas with our son's family.

Our first trip in 2011 was a spring riverboat cruise on the Dneiper River from Odessa to Keiv in Ukraine.  We did a summer visit to Utah, then an Autumn trip to Turkey where we toured with a group on a land coach.  We had to cancel one trip scheduled to N. Dakota while DH doctored his bad back.  We will be heading back to Utah for Thanksgiving.

I am reviewing brochures and websites for our next trips in 2012.  Right now it's looking like maybe a trip to Iceland and some Nordic Countries.  There's also a tour of Newfoundland that looks interesting.  We'll see.

In between visiting the foreign countries, we travel around the US every couple of months.  The price of gasoline could cut into that travel.

A person certainly gets a different perspective on this great big world of ours when they travel around and meet the people in different countries with different cultures and different viewpoints.

While at home between trips, I belong to a book club, work on my photographs, and do computer graphics.  I participate in aerobics and Yoga at my local rec center at least 3x a week.  Currently I am designing and printing menus and business cards for a new restaurant. I have spent over 20 years as an active volunteer in my community.  Hubby and I also like to take long walks, and do our work-out routines three times a week.  Recently I was elected a member of the board for our HOA, representing 125 townhouse villa units.

I believe staying active, mentally, physically and spiritually helps us stay young and strong, while DH and I are enjoying every minute of being semi-retired.
