My occupation, before retirement, was the administrator for 13 divisions of a Department of Medicine in a New York Hospital.
More about me: I am a retired divorced lady who is a transplant from New York to Ormond Beach, Florida. I left my whole family up north and didn't know a soul when I moved here but quickly made friends and now can't find enough hours in the day. I feel my move to Florida was the best thing in the world for me and the almost three years I have been here have been the happiest in my life. I volunteer as an Ambassador at our local airport (Daytona Beach) and am also a volunteer at Ormond Memorial Hospital, where my duties include visiting those patients who have few or no visitors. I have a wide circle of friends in our community and started a singles group here which is very active. I love to read, am studying Spanish and try to exercise on a daily basis (although I take weekends off). I have four children and eight grandchildren and visit the north at least once a year to see them.
Favorite Movies: Out of Africa, Gone with the Wind
Favorite TV Shows: I life to watch Discovery Health, Grey's Anatomy, ER and good movies

Hi Jane and thank you for the welcome...as you can see I haven't been on in quite a while...not because things have changed I just have tried different avenues, Drs and such...oh yeah like putting me to sleep and trying to change my way of thinking is going to work...maybe it works for the Drs pockets but thats about it....I am still going through so much...I swear if I don;t have a heart attack soon , hey maybe that's when my kids will be happy..I don't even know anymore...and seriously, I may play ALL of this off really well, but it's mearly a facade..people think I have this PERFECT world...BONG!!!! SOOOOOO Wrong! I hope all is well with you!

Jane 28, I read your message about living with a disability and I had to add my 2 cents. I am 48 and have been living with a disability since 2002. It is a pain in the you know what. I had back surgery in May of 2002 and then fell in July of 2002 and that apparently caused the chronic back pain. I have just been back to the doctor for the umpteenth time for him to tell me it is arthritis and the only thing they can do is burn those nerve endings if the procedure works on Tuesday. I never dreamed at the age of 48 I would never be able to work another day for the rest of my life and that I would basically live life like a hermit because the pain is so bad I can't leave the house. I too tried pain management and they told me all they could do was keep me as comfortable as possible. Now I am on 60 mg. of methadone a day which is unheard of, muscle relaxers , anti depressants, and something for arthritis. All I can say is I hope and pray that yours gets better and you will be in my prayers. Prayers work because when I had the last test done I prayed I wouldn't have to have another surgery and I don't. I know you don't know me but I will pray for you and that you have a speedy recovery. I pray you don't have to live through what I do everyday. Good Luck sexyrebelchick
