Hello, we are Jard and Roberta DeVille. We have invested half a century in the various aspects of psychospiritual health which is represented by our logo. It represents the personality pyramid with it's three tiers representing the physical, psychological and philosophical or the pleasure/pain, power/prestige and the purpose/permanence principles of life.
For over half a century we have helped a great many people like yourself, from different walks of life, make their lives fulfilling and meaningful through teaching, counseling; and by publishing powerful books, tests and seminars.
For, while some individuals perceive a conflict between psychology and religion, between worship and psychotherapy, both disciplines stem from the same roots, from the same human needs for faith, hope and love in a community of men and women with whom we share life. It is when crucial needs go unmet that our lives turn barren and become as dry as dust, leaving us existentially frustrated, stuck in the midst of life and prone to aggressive and self-defeating choices.
We married as college sweethearts and our family has grown to include three grown children, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Indisputably, we have put enough miles on our personal odometers and had enough experiences to learn what is important in virtually every aspect of life. This is why our e-book study courses cover the gamut of human activities -- from worshipping and working, to loving and learning, to persevering and playing.We spent some thirty years learning from and consulting with our mentor and friend Viktor Frankl, who made his life meaningful through a covenant relationship with God by loyally treating patients even while he was a prisoner in the anteroom of hell. He suffered for over three years in the German death factory at Auschwitz during the Nazi Holocaust and emerged as virtually a saint. Viktor (he earned dual doctorates in medicine and psychology) developed the powerful life-focusing and soul-healing system he called Logotherapy or spirit-healing, to help existentially frustrated or spiritually bankrupt persons.
As we matured intellectually and spiritually, we researched and published more books, test instruments and seminars than Viktor himself wrote and discovered additional elements about living successfully. While our mentor focused on creating a crucial sense of meaning to enhance one’s life, we took his concepts to a still higher level -- which is what researchers and writers do when contributing to human knowledge.
We combine Viktor’s concept of seeking individual meaning --with a communal search for belonging with the people with whom we share love. We have gone on to promote the wisdom of opening avenues of meaning and purpose -- within the places of the heart with the men and women with whom we share love and support. This is represented in the following equation.
FULFILLMENT = f (Meaning X Belonging)
For it is the balanced way we work and play, love and learn and persevere and worship -- our maturing choices, that determine the depth of our fulfillment and the consistent satisfaction that follows.Some of our published books that so many persons have found extremely valuable include:
-
LEADERSHIP POWER - Japanese
-
THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SPIRITUAL WITNESSING
-
PASTOR'S HANDBOOK ON INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS
and others in English, Spanish and Japanese. They were originally published as major offerings by several first line book companies.PARENTING WINNING CHILDRENwas developed as a guide for parents when Jard was the Director of a learning and learning disabilities clinic for dyslexic children in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
FRONTIERS OF FULFILLMENT and THE LIBERATED SOUL, were developed and piloted as religious education seminars and liberal arts college short classes for some hundred schools and churches.
GRACE UNDER PRESSURE was written as his textbook when he was adjunct Professor of Leadership in the Executive Development Conference at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Roberta is his full partner and co-author in all of this research and development.
