Places I've been

I was a Navy brat growing up, and didn't live anywhere long enough growing up to call it a hometown, until Dad retired in '71 and we moved to the Dallas area. As a kid, I lived in California, Washington, Rhode Island(6yrs), Taiwan, Virginia. Moved just north of Dallas when my children were starting school(1988). I love to travel, and spent about a year in Mazatlan, Mexico, loving the slower lifestyle there, and the Mexican people. I visit friends in Cocoa, FL a couple times a year, New Orleans, LA a couple times a year, and love to go to Branson MO, for the music and trout fishing.

More about me

I'm trying to remember all those things I had always "planned" on doing when I retired.  I have definitely learned in the past few years not to plan too far in advance.  I was a career(27 yrs) fireman that retired 4 yrs ago.  I've lived on the East and West coasts, and spent a lot of vacation time on the Gulf coast,  I guess I've always been drawn to the ocean.  About 8 yrs. ago I bought a small house on a lake, I guess thats the closest thing to the ocean when you live in north Texas.    My goals for the next few years are to finish remodeling the lake house and to go back to college.  I still have time for a second career in something totally different, that I've always had an interest in.  My "Life's Philosophy"....Our life is what we make of it, so make the most of it, always have a "Plan B", and keep on truckin'.  I've also learned that sometimes we have to pick ourselves up, and dust ourselves off, when we get knocked down.  Its always been worth it!  I've always had alot of diverse interests, and my former career afforded me the time to pusue many of them through part-time jobs.  I still have alot of things I want to learn about, and how to do.  My children are all adults, living on their own, so I'm trying to learn my place in their lives, now, and learn how to be a good grandfather.  I love to fish, and look forward to wetting a hook in as many waters as I can in this country before I die.  It is very relaxing to me enjoying the wildlife around lakes and rivers, and the ocean. 

Activities

I love going to live concerts, country, blues, and old rock music, relaxing by the lake even when the fish aren't biting, doing things to help the kids, carpentry, furniture refinishing, occasionally going to a casino, fresh seafood on the beach, art exhibits, crossword puzzles
