About Me
I haven't refreshed this profile in a while..but I've been on EONS since August of 2006.
Overall I'm not sure yet about this age thing as a reason for people to relate as a group or have a conversation on common experience, expectations or opinions. But it can be interesting.
Looking back over the postings I've read; it is the when and where that can make a real differience in how things are seen and talked about.
Example; if you didn't live in the sixties as a young adult, like I did, you can't really know or feel how things were as compared to reading about them or seeing them on film or tape or being told about them from others. For me specific examples are the Viet Nam War, the struggle for civil rights, the amazing changes in 'youth culture', the space race, the Cold War, Kennedy, Johnson then Nixon administrations, and the assassinations that bookend the decade.
I live through it all, mostly viewing it as a part of a large and active midwestern university having begun the decade as a high school student and ending it as a draftee on his way to War.
After all this time I still look back and remember an old Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times".

Who are your heroes?
This can be the flavor of the month. I believe that by definition, a hero needs to be dead. If they aren't they may be subject to hero fatigue and clay feet. Example, Richard Nixon was a hero to overcome adversity of his own personality to get elected with a secret plan to end the Vietnam War and, say, go to China BUT a danderhead to depend on his friends for ideas and then to tell them to carry it out, sort'a like that priest thing that happen to Henry II.

What are your all-time favorite TV shows?
I have a lot as in the case of film. Obviously most of network television is time filling and content lite. Cable is great for short attention span and commercial skipping. Old time television is interesting as a time capsule of how and what I remember vs. how tacky and hooky some of it was. But then again how timely television is to capture the moment. Example, the Kennedy shooting does catch the moment as well as living it but it is close and maybe what television does best.

I thought women in general were put down for having bi-directional conversations that aren't asymmetric. Not saying we're all interesting ... Reminds me of a line by Woody Allen, "All men are mortal. Socrates was mortal. Therefore, all men are Socrates."
