I grew up in the country riding horses and exploring the fishing and crabbing eddies and the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and the nearby bayous, creeks and canals--my daddy was a cattle rancher and my granddaddy operated fishing boats. (Hometown), High School Name (City, State)
I loved to pretend and to fantasize, but I also loved to study and learn everything they had to teach in school. I always wanted to know what was in books, so I liked to read and pushed myself to understand. I probably wanted to teach from a very young age. I would come back from school (I had an hour long bus ride home) and taught my little sister everything I learned that day on a make-shift black board. I went to elementary school in Lake Jackson and high school in Freeport, Texas

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas with a BA in literature and theatre. I participated in dance, theatre, musicals, art festivals, and I love history, foreign language, literature, and the humanities.

Now, I do volunteer work for the food pantry, women's center, local hospital charities, and the church.

I am a wife and mother of three wonderful children and a grandmother to four beautiful grand children. I've been true to the same man for thirty years. I enjoy spending time with my family and travelling to distant lands. I have visited England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico, Canada. I have driven to many of the states. I love to meet new people and investigate different life styles.

Favorite Movies

"Sargent York" with Gary Cooper, "A Streetcar Named Desire" with Marlon Brando, "Casablanca" with Humphrey Bogart, "Dead Poet's Society" with Robin Williams, "Red River" with John Wayne, "The Natural" with Robert Redford, "Being Julia" with Annette Benning--are just some of my favorites.

Favorite TV Shows

I love the "Law and Order" and "CSI" shows as well as "Criminal Minds." "The Closer" and "The Shield" are outstanding. "House" is good because it is an investigation show as well as a doctor show. I enjoy PBS productions like "Masterpiece Theatre" and "Mystery." I still like the reruns of "I Love Lucy, " "Seinfeld, " "Mash, " "Cosby, " Cheers" and "Raymond."

I love the special dinners like birthday celebrations, Thanksgiving with family and friends, Christmas dinner. We all get together, cooking favorite dishes and making a grand mess in the kitchen. Since the family has been expanding and south Texas is still relatively warm in the winter, we cook outside as well as in the kitchen all year long.

My mother and my father.

I never thought I would have so much free time to enjoy my life. I am learning to use a computer--I can remember the time when I resisted. I am writing and reading with pleasure. I am planning a trip to Russia in the next summer.

What is your dream vacation?

I would dearly love to visit Ireland and Scotland with enough time and money to stay in castles, investigate the countryside, old churches, pubs, historical places, listen to bagpipes, and view the islands of the historic MacBeth.
