Places I've been

High School Name (City, State) Tularosa High School, Tularosa, NM College Name I did not attend college. I've been from Canada to Mexico; from California to Maine, and visited many other places in between. I have three favorite spots in the great U.S.A. They are the great White Sands in NM, Yosemite in CA, and Bar Harbor, ME, not necessarily in that order...but close!

More about me

I retired from retail in 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed being at home full time. In May 2009, I relocated to Texas to obtain necessary medical care for my husband who required carotid artery surgery. I spent the summer watching over him and enjoying the last days of his company.  He died from vascular dementia in the early morning on September 8, 2009. 

While living in Texas the next six months I compiled my notes and began writing a book about our experiences while traveling down the harrowing dementia path of victim and caregiver. It's not a path I would recommend to anyone!

In April 2010, I returned to my New Mexico home and began regaining a normal life; begining to do things to bring smiles to myself and to others. Life is good once more.

In October, 2010, I met a fantastic gentleman who has made life a complete joy. Life is fabulous once again.

 

Activities

Playing computer games on Pogo.com, e-messaging several of my old classmates, enjoying the peace and quiet of my rural home, and delighting in the company of friends (real and on-line), neighbors, and a new companion.

Favorite Charities

Those who are in need and to whom I can help personally are the ones who get my time, talent, or dollars.

Favorite Music

Country western from the 50's through the 70's, with Jim Reeves as my favorite singer. I'm not too emotional, but I cried when he died. I enjoy listening to Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and singers of that era. Please don't blare the music! I like it soft and low.

Favorite TV Shows

TV doesn't intrigue me anymore. It's too commercial, too biased, too negative. I get my news and find my entertainment on the computer.

Favorite Movies

I used to watch movies until they became too expensive to attend. It has been years...no, decades...since I went to a movie.

Favorite Books

Oh, there are so many that I cannot begin to list them all. Frank Yerby's "Judas, My Brother, " Edna Ferber's "So Big, " Ernest Hemingway's "A Farewell to Arms, " Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged"...and so very many more!

My own back yard has become my favorite place. I have gone enough, seen enough, done enough. Now I want to enjoy reflection of those things while relaxing in my own home.

The wild, free stallion horse is my favorite. He is such a magnificent animal.
