Places I've been
Japan for four years; many other places on trips. Worked in Rochester New York and in Dallas Texas for Kodak. Traveled so much that I now hate to fly anywhere, preferring to drive.
More about me

The bicycle has been my friend for the past eleven years, ever since I retired early from Eastman Kodak Company.

I used to ride about 1,000 to 1,500 miles per year.  Now I have upped that annual figure to between 4,000 and 5,000 per year.

Although its undocumented, my feeling is that my health has improved with the increased mileage per week. Lower blood pressure, lower heart rate, don't get out of breath that fast any more; that kind of thing.

Now, when I want to ride a Florida rails-to-trails pathway, its not nearly as intimidating as it used to be.

My bike is a hybrid Trek, model 7500.  Although its not a roadie bike, I can at least push it on the road for a good 11 to 13 mph average, depending on the weather and road conditions.

Oh sure, I still do other things, like wood working, candle making, travel with my wonderful wife, etc, but, its the bicycle riding that is my real hobby.

    • Thanks for the comment on the photo. The train goes to almost all of the towns and villages in Germany and most of Europe. And if the train doesn't go all the way into a small village there is usually a bus. Too bad in America we can't always get even to some big cities by train unless we transfer at least once and travel miles out of our way to get to some places.

    • Thank you for the comment on my Event blog. Living abroad as you did for so long must have been quite an experience too. I have never been to Japan but my sister speaks fluent Japanese and has some exciting experiences just from a few visits. I'll be checking out your writings again.
