Places I've been

My father was career Navy and so I lived my youth all over the US. I was born near Pittsburgh PA and also lived in MA, CA, VA, & NJ. My family retired to a small town in PA, but I chose to live in Southern CA. I spent a lot of time in SD with my first husband's family; the Black Hills are beautiful. So far my travels have taken me to Alaska and Peru, plus a cruise through the Panama Canal.

More about me

I have been retired for 5 years now; I worked as a claims adjuster and really enjoyed my job (Some people would think that's sick because of the stress level, but I loved the challenges.)  My husband Jim amd I had great plans to travel, but unfortunately a year later, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died in 2006.  I have been truly blessed by the many caring friends who supported me through that difficult time.  Now I am busy reinventing myself.  I often say, "I don't know what I want to be when I grow up." but at 62, it's time to admit I am grown up.

Activities

Since I am retired, I get to pick and chose how I use my time. I am taking Osher classes at UC-Riverisde. (Do you know about Osher Lifelong Learning? Great classes, no books, no homework and no tests, but very stimulating!!) I am a docent at the Mission Inn, a local hotel that is a National Historic Landmark. I also volunteer at my church and at the local soup kitchen. For fun and to keep fit, I enjoy Jazzercise. I am also an avid reader and love computer games that keep you thinking.

I am blessed with more friends than anyone deserves and so I'm not going to risk listing them and leaving someone out. My family, of course, even with all our warts.

Cambria, especially the ocean from there north; Machu Picchu, breath-taking, the Mission Inn

My 2 dogs, Zoey & Sweeney; they're lovable mutts that I rescued 18 months ago.
