More about me

I read extensively, everything: science, politics, history, archaeology, astronomy, biology, fiction, paleontology,everything. I had an outstandingly crazy time in my twenties in England and California and am still recovering. I draw and sculpt, although I primarily draw via Photoshop on my computer these days.

 I seem to have sloughed off most of my friends as I grew older but don't miss them all that much. The few really good ones have either died or moved away. I do however enjoy exchanging views via email with anyone interested and intelligent enough to write.

I have high standards for myself and others and do not tolerate whiny slackers. While certainly not a Republican, I am not a liberal Democrat either and am thoroughly disillusioned and disgusted at the corrupt, hypocritical partisan politics I see on a daily basis on both sides.

I have been married for thirty two years and have a son who will be graduating college next year. I recently took an early retirement offer from AT&T  after twenty seven years of employment and am enjoying a relaxing temporary hiatus from the cares of the world before finding something interesting to do.

Reading everything, then talking about it, computers, playing with my dog Cooky, enjoying retirement, doing absolutely nothing.

Favorite People

My favorite people aren't famous, they are unknown for the most part, except to the communities they serve. They are the people who hold modern civilization together: police, firefighters, paramedics, doctors, nurses, social workers and the thousands of volunteers who help them every day. Anyone who is willing to help someone, just because they can.

Favorite Places

Quiet green places, temperate rain forests in the Pacific Northwest, fern filled coombes in Devon and Cornwall, anywhere there are trees, grass and water, small animals and peace.
