It has been quite a year since I moved from central NJ to Charlottesville Va - went through quite a few changes- some good some not so great, but isnt that the way life is anyway? Diagnosed with BAC Lung Cancer in March 2007, I had surgery, and am now on an oral chemo drug that is keeping what remains in both lungs fairly stable. With the well wishes and support of friends and family, I am focused on healing. The area I live is perfect for that, right outside of Crozet, and nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mtns, a truly beautiful place.
My oil paintings are works done mostly from photographs, mine or a client's. After moving to Virginia, I tried acrylics and found I liked them! Mixed in are nearly 20 years experience as co-owner in a family photography business which I think really helped develop my eye- pun intended lol. I practice with pencil, charcoal, and digital manipulation at times.
Lately I have been re-inspired in my art- we all go through our slumps. For this reason, I was very excited about the new Eons Art School group, a small but committed group of artists who want to give back by helping others.
I did a series of small paintings which I donated to the Jason Plite Memorial Fund's auction April, 2008. The purpose is to provide scholarships in Art and Swimming, activities that are near and dear to the spirt of Jason. For more information about how the funds of this auction are used, you can go to the website and click on the link, Information http://www.jasonplitememorial.com
I also support the Kidney Cancer Association since there is so little research dedicated to this area. I am a 2 year survivor of kidney cancer. http://www.kidneycancerassociation.org/
The American Cancer Society is an extremely valuable resource for both patients and caregivers alike. I survived ovarian cancer in 1992. It still seems unreal to me that I have had primary cancers three separate times. The ACS and other online cancer support groups have been instrumental in the wealth of information and help that they have available. http://www.cancer.org
Peace, Cath

It seems to be a little pregnant on the right side, I must correct that. I understand what you are saying about the shadowing. I have a question about that, the books I have talk about shadowing to show the circular shape of the tree so would the shading be dark on both sides of the trunk for instance??? Thank you for all your comments, I really appreciate getting feedback because it helps.
