More about me

I was born in Oklahoma and our family moved to California when I was five. Nevertheless, I still consider myself an Okie. I have an older sister; my only brother died in 1964 at age 25 in a plane crash when he was in the Navy. I am a teacher in an independent study high school, which means I don't have a classroom. Instead I have a cubicle and see one student an hour, 35 each week. I will retire in 2009 and we hope to move to Washington state, to the Olympia/Tumwater area. I am looking forward to being in a new place and starting a new phase in my life. I hope to take some college classes at one of the local colleges after retirement and try to finally do some writing. I was an English major in college and love to read in a variety of genres and subjects. I support numerous animal rescue and defense groups and have a dog and two cats of my own. I live with my boyfriend of 18 years. I am a staunch Democrat, although the current group in Congress is trying my patience sorely due to their lackadaisical attitude toward the moron in chief and their refusal to impeach him. I have hopes that our country will turn around dramatically once Obama takes over the office.

    • Thanks for the kind words. Let's not cry for the planet, though--we're part of it as much as the ocean, trees, animals and all else. Let's recognize our unique role here and work together to find solutions to the challenges. It's all too easy to think it's not up to us.

    • Thanks very much - I'm pretty sure I'm not as photographically astute as Ansel Adams but I do enjoy his style of work.
