More about me

consider myself an artist.  I am a beader, gardener, quilter, knitter, writer/poet but my claim to fame is my Christmas Village.  I hand paint the plaster houses and now have around 70 with a huge collection of people, trees and other urban necessities.  After years of setting it up at my house.  IT now is put on display during the holiday season at the Midland County Historical Society's Museum.  lately when I had to describe what I did I used the term MINATURIST but I am not working to scale so that is not entirely accurate.  I am also a Certified Master Gardener,  which is a souped up name for idiot volunteer.  I work not only in my own extensive garden,  but spend a good deal of time each week working at Whiting Forest and Dow Gardens.  To achieve this "title" one must pay the big bucks to go to 12 weeks of class and then overextend and overwhelm oneself volunteering to supposedly give back to the community.  I love the knowledge and the friends i have made, I love working with the plants.  but sometimes.....

I am still married to the same neat guy for 40 yrs and have to adult sons who claim to be on their own.  My husband and I are staff to  _WAS_ three female Bengal cats, now two and one stray that moved in under our deck one winter.  She stole our heart and now runs the place.  He has been a member of Eons for quite some time and has posted pictures of our crew at various times.

I adore email, new friends, birdwatching,  and am totally addicted to reading mysteries and inhale them regularly.

 I took the twelve week Artist's Way course and finished another of Julia Cameron Books.  Was President of the local Beading Guild for two years the for one year four years later. Treasurer for One (and NEVER want that one again).  I now belong to Great Lakes Gardeners, and Master Gardener Assoc.

 I also deal with chronic myofasial pain (first cousin to Fibromyalgia) and spinal stenosis with spurs and arthritis.  Makes my life interesting to say the least. In September of 2010 I learned that I have torsion Dystonia.  it maybe some or most of the pain I have that was thought to be caused by CMP.  I am told by a Neurologist, that in the future it may need to be addressed with medications that treat Parkinson's.  It causes severe tightening of muscles and leads to involuntary spasms and shaking.  I have been having Botox injections in my neck and shoulders to control pain and shaking and recently starting a series of Accupuncture appts.  

I would definitely prefer that I don't deal with quite so many challenges but I do remember the words of Mother Teresa.   “I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much.”
