Working in a bookstore is lots of fun and you meet a wide variety of people with a wide range of interests. Since I love to read, I get first dibs on many new titles and can order any book I want. My co-workers are a fascinating lot. Their backgrounds include everything from medicine to teaching to the military. We're a close group--we often party together and cry on each others shoulders. We're all ages from teens to sixties. We learn from each other which is another bonus in working there. My personal life: I'm currently unattached and have a lovely 35 year old daughter. I live with my mom who's 88 and a very liberal, well-read, exuberant person for her age. My entire family loves to read, watch films and travel--we've often taken trips together joined by my younger brother, his wife and my daughter's boyfriend. I have two degrees, one in English and Sociology, another in Library and Information Science. I'm a liberal politically and interested in human rights, I belong to Amnesty International and frequently join in their letter-writing campaigns. At 59, I still feel young at heart and willing to try a variety of new activities. I enjoy silliness and creepy movies. I love to laugh and I love to eat. I'll try any food once. Ethnic dishes are big favorites from sushi to Thai foods to pierogis to nouvelle cuisine. Going back to school is one of my goals, this time to obtain a history degree. Traveling to Africa and staying in a hilltop hotel is another dream. I just want to experience all I can.
