More about me

I joined eons a few weeks ago at the encouragement of my mother in law's nurse, but I realize I didn't really fill out much in my profile page.

 I'm 61, the mother of three terrific grown children, two sons and a daughter.  My husband is a Presbyterian pastor and I love my part time job as the children's director at church.  I am a water color artist and teacher and very active in the art community east of the Mississippi in Illinois and St. Louis.  You can see my art web site (created by my graphic artist son) at www.jerieartz.com. 

 The anchor of my active life is Jesus Christ.  Centering prayer, time alone each morning, reading the Scriptures, spiritual books and journaling are what feeds and nurtures my body, soul, and spirit.  Without this time of quiet, I would not be able to juggle all there is in my life.  This time helps keep me in balance.  It fills my "inner life "with all I need to live my " outer life."  This includes the responsabilities of taking care of my mother in law for the past 12 years, which is becoming increasingly more demanding. 

 My own father passed away 1 1/2 years ago and my mother moved near us.  She is still on her own, but I have found myself in the position to be her main support system.  It has been amazing to me to watch her turn to the Lord during these past months and find His help and strength in her grieving and widowhood.  She has now found new friends, a new support system at church, and shares my love of art.

When I'm not painting, working, and caregiving, in the summer you'll find me paddling around in our swimming pool - it is great R & R!
