More about me

I like to be around friends and family, I love to laugh, don't enjoy camping very much unless it's in a R.V., love to travel, love to see the beauty of God's handiwork in everyday life, whether it be in the clouds, a newly opened flower or the majestic Yosemite. I like to be around positive people who realize just how really blessed we truly are.

I've been widowed for almost 3 years after 28 years of marriage. My husband passed away from ALS, a terrible disease that I truly hope someone finds a cure for.

I grew up in Oregon so mountains, forests, rivers/streams were my back yard and playground. I didn't live far from the Pacific Ocean and loved it so much that my friends and I would skip school take off for the day. Our parents always found out, of course, and we got put on restriction, but it was worth it. (I think I was on restriction for most of my high school years!) I still love the ocean and (I know it's an overused phrase) but I love long walks on the beach. I really like to pick up shells, driftwood, etc. and seeing what I can make from my "catch of the day." Sometimes it looks good enough that I could sell it, other times, well....let's just say the firewood and trash pile gets bigger.

My husband was in the Navy for 26 years and after his retirement we still had the "we've been here for 2 years so it's time to move elsewhere" bug that most career military get. So, we did. California, Washington, Oregon, South Dakota, etc. Yes, we moved often but we really enjoyed it. Each new place was an adventure. Things to do, places to explore, people to meet......loved it! (still do!)

I have 2 grown daughters that followed in their dad's footsteps by joining the Navy. They are both out now, one by choice, one by medical (shattered ankle). When my oldest daughter was in, she actually got stationed on the same ship (U.S.S. Enterprise) that her dad was on before he retired.

I really like Alaska and have seriously thought about moving there for awhile. I love the fact of daytime in the middle of the night...that was awesome. Three AM and it's still pretty light outside...for a night owl like me that was heaven! My brother owns charter boats and took my mom & me fishing for halibut and salmon. We both caught our limit and came back home with 100 pounds of it. YUMMY!

Every summer I try to take a road trip across the United States. Usually a family member goes with me so I can have someone to help drive and share the sights with. It's much more fun when you can share all the little out of the way places with someone. I tell myself that this trip will only be for a week or two. Yeah, right. That never sticks. It's usually more like a month or more. I have family and friends all over the United States and I have to stop and see each one of them, right?? :)
