I have travelled to Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. I have also had the priveledge of travelling a bit in the US. Among my favorite places: Boston, New York City, Washington DC, Las Vegas, and Dallas. This year I plan to visit Savannah, Georgia.

Hello, my name is Alina Lopez, I was born in Cuba, but immigrated to the US when I was 8 years old and consider myself a proud American-Cuban.  I grew up in Texas but curently reside in Hialeah, Florida (a city with the distinction, or so I read, of being the 3rd  most conservative city in the US). 

 I have been married for 26 years to a wonderful man named Julio.   My mother Amada, lives in our home.  My father passed away in 1996.  I have two beautiful daughters Alana who is 24 years old and Amanda, who is 18. We were recently blessed with the birth of twin boys-- Alexander and Adrian.  Alex looks exactly like his father Ralph and Adrian is the image of his mommy Alana.  I have a younger brother named Armando, who I am very close too and a sister in law named Gladys, who is actually more like a sister than a sister in law.  I have a handsome nephew named Andrew (yes this is the A family......) Andrew is now a pre-teen...need I say more? He is a great kid.  Ralph is Alana's wonderful husband, he is quiet and extremely hardworking and one heck of a fisherman.   They are a very close couple that do everything together (including  shopping) which I find incredible as I have  never been able to drag Julio to a Mall.   They are crazy about their boys.

Amanda's boyfriend Alex is another great young man, he is talented and creative and has a wonderful sense of humor--he needs a sense of humor, Amanda is quite high maintenance.  They have been together since the 8th grade.

There are no words to express the love I have for my family.  We are practicing Christians (which in my book means we haven't gotten it right yet, but we keep trying and that's gotta count for something!!)  My two girls are my best friends, they are also friends to each other and that quite frankly is what I consider one of my greatest accomplishments.

Compared to others, I have a small life, but it is a happy one, filled with highs and with lows, like everyone else.  I would not change it for the world.

I love to read, cook, travel, have family get-togethers and the beach.  We have a  house on a lake and really enjoy grilling  & taking advantage of Florida's sunny weather.

 

 

 

Activities

I love to read (true crime, non-fiction, romance). Absolutely love cooking and am a big Paula Dean fan...I'm planning a trip to Savannah this summer with hopes of eating at her restaurant. I like to walk and enjoy all water activities. I also enjoy dinning out and going to the movies. I am history buff.

pop, classic oldies, 70's disco(yes, I admit it!) and a lot of the music of the 80's. I love the music of Motown. I also like some of today's stuff (had to learn to like it because of my kids)

Anything on Discovery, Cold Case Files, American Justice, The Soprano's, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Anything on DIY, and of course the cooking channel.

Favorite Movies

Top 10 favorite movies: The Deer Hunter, The Godfather, Shawshank Redemption, On the Waterfront, Mystic River, The Piano, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Bridget Jones Dairy, Apocalypto, and The Last Samurai.

Favorite Books

Pride & Prejudice, 100 Years of Solitude, Amor en Tiempos de Colera, and hundreds more. I absolutely love to read.......
