Places I've been

Born in Germany, grew up in Slovenia, lived in Austria for a while, and been in USA for better than 2/3rds of my life. Although having back ground in military aviation, in 62 I became a trucker, and retired as such only a few pension checks ago. Did own a restaurant lounge, right here in Hobart for 15 years. Done a whole lots of flying all along, and still hold a commercial, instrument rated pilots certificate. Well, the biggest thing that changed for me, now that I'm retired, what I was getting paid for to do till now, I'm now paying to do.

  I'm a traveling man. Outdoors has always been my natural preference. In over 44 years of trucking, I estimate that I seen over 5 million miles of this country, through the eyes of my dearest female, the windshield of an 18 wheeler. She was hard on me at times. Almost killed me 3 times. But I have  never known of stronger love/hate relationship, than with that lady. On any good day, I would say, I feel sorry for anyone that's not me today. Than, on many Christmas, or New Years days, when snow bound for days, with no food, or missing the kids birthdays, and such events, I would think, only a fool would live like this. All that is behind me now. But wouldn't you know, I miss it already. Nevertheless, I'm a walker, a bicyclist, naturalist, and an explorer of all known, and yet unknown destinations. Just in the last year and a half, I been to Mexico, 2 weeks, out West, twice, 3 weeks at a time, Florida, South Padre Islands, and Texas Hill country. In less than a month, I'll be in Puerto Rico. I'm a snow skier. Have skied every mountain worth skiing, here, and many in Europe. But sandy beaches of the warm climates, are slowly taking priority over the slopes.
