More about me

I have lived in Newburyport for 3 years. My husband and I moved from our home in Woburn to a condo. I love this town and the people in it.The restaurants are great. The beaches are minutes from home and Boston is just a short trip. I have joined a local gym and work out 4 times a week and enjoy aerobics, Tai Chi, body pump and my new favorite Zumba. I am a 67 year old New Jersey transplant having moved from Bergen County more years ago than I can remember. I had a 30 year career with Ma Bell and the various companies that emerged after the big telecom split. I also worked at Friendly's which was tough since I am an ice cream lover. I enjoy reading and am somewhat of a news/political junkie.

I am the mother of 3 adult children, stepmother of 5 adults and the stepgrandma to 7 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. My new nickname is Grandma Bubbly.

Am fortunate to have great friends..new and not so new. My husband has been quite ill for several years. He has been in and out of hospitals, suffering mostly the effects of COPD. Being a caretaker and watching his health take a beating is tough but living in a good place helps a great deal.

Favorite Charities

I don't do much with charities but do support St. Vincent de Paul Society at Immaculate Conception Church and a few others. I used to do a lot of volunteer work but with my life commitments that has taken a back seat to be revisited in the future.

Favorite Music

I can't sing but enjoy any good music. A favorite joke in my family is the memory of listening to our Dad's favorite Lawrence Welk and his troupe. We think he turned him on so we would all leave the room. There were 8 kids so we got back at him with rock and roll.

Favorite TV Shows

Bones, Monk, NCIS, Rachel Maddow, 60 Minutes and Meet the Press. My husband and I have a Sunday morning date with coffee and now David Gregory. We miss Tim Russell.

Activities

I am learning to knit and sew a little. Have been in several theatre productions and am involved with Georgetown Theatre Workshop. I enjoy reading and am a news junkie. I work out several times a week. I used to garden and am now trying my hand at container gardening since the move to a condo.

Favorite Movies

I haven't seen anything I have enjoyed since the March of the Penguins (I think that is the title)

Favorite Books

I enjoy murder mysteries but can't name any real favorites. I visit the local bookstores and my local library frequently.

Favorite People

I admire Barack and Michelle Obama. I enjoy people who have varied interests and are enthusiastic about them.

Favorite Places

I recently visited Santa Fe. Loved the area. I enjoy traveling. Marco Island, FL, Culebra P.R. are a few favorites.

Favorite Animals

I am a dog fan and have had several over the years, including a rescued Greyhound. Right now I have a sweet 17 year old cat. I am surprised how much I enjoy her. She has been a true companion during my husband's many illnesses.
