Mom and Dad were from Middle Village, Queens. I was born in Brooklyn. 1st Apartment was on Pitkin Ave., when the EL was still there. We then moved to Berriman St. I was three houses down from P.S. 202. The area was known as New Lots. Mom was 1/2 Irish and 1/2 German. Dad was French, Dutch and 1/4 Cherokee. The area was mostly Jewish, so I had a friend that taught me to read Hebrew and I spoke some Yiddish. Don't you just love NY for all the ethnic diversity?

As a community organizer, I take it that you didn't appreciate Sarah Palin's remark about community organizers? LOL

Appreciate your poem "How Could You?" I tried to save a lost snapping turtle last night on the road.
