The Tour de Cure is an annual fundraising bike race with the American Diabetes Association. The North Shore Tour de Cure is on May 22, 20109, and will take riders along the beautiful Massachusetts coastline, through historic sites and breath-taking country landscapes. From the experienced rider to the casual rider, there is a route designed for you in the North Shore Tour de Cure.
All routes start and finish at the Gloucester High School and include rolling hills and sometime challenging road conditions. A map of the routes can be found here: http://www.mapmyride.com/view_event?e=933519307355All of the routes are fully supported by Tour de Cure Rest Stops and on-the-road Support and Gear (SAG) Vehicles. These volunteers are experienced and trained to assist in maintaining fun and safe conditions for riders. Lunch is provided for cyclists and volunteers and will be served from 12pm - 2pm.
After your Saturday morning ride through the North Shore, join in the post-ride celebration! The hard part is over and now it is time for us to come together and enjoy a festival of music, food and fun focused on healthy choices for active lifestyles. Sign-up, bring a friend or form a team and join the North Shore Tour de Cure family for the 16th year of riding toward a cure!

Biking, Cycling, Diabetes Awareness Our mission is the prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Our ground level strategy for this mission is through our local and federal advocacy efforts, community education programs ranging from intimate public speaking engagements (15 people) to our Diabetes Expo (50, 000 people) and funding research in search of a cure. Even in this economy we are looking to raise our dollars to the mission from $0.75 back up to $0.78.

American Diabetes Association, Tour de Cure How is the Tour de Cure different than other diabetes organizations? There is only one other non profit working on the same cause and are Type 1 research exclusive. They provide no educational programs. They will not fight against discrimination for someone w/diabetes. Their focus is only on seven-tenths of the entire group with no possibility cross-pollinating research between Types of diabetes.

I am extremely proud to say that we, the Four Corners area, is hosting our first Tour de Cure! As an avid cyclists I have been trying and dreaming of bringing a major ride to my wonderful little part of the world. Can't get much more of a major ride that TdC, right? Nor a more perfect one for this area. I am so excited I about can't stand myself!I will write another post in a few days and keep all up to date.
I have never been to one of these rides, so all is new, and so exciting. And, as an organizer.....a bit overwhelming, but in a good way. We have been invited to Albuquerque this coming weekend for their ride to see just how things go along. The following weekend I am going to Brigham City, Utah with a good friend to actually participate in theirs.
So, the adventure begins for me ---- and the unsuspecting souls I have conjured along who are still my friends ---- and am tickled to death to know there is somewhere I can share it with.
Happy riding all.

to Coping With Diabetes.
We are glad you joined us and we're looking forward to getting to know you.
Please make yourself at home.
We are all in the Diabetes boat together and it really helps if we all paddle together.
