Places I've been

I have traveled Jamaica, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman 3 times on Carnival Conquest. I also sailed on the Celebration and the Ecstasy both out of Galveston. I have visited CA several times in the last few years. I used to travel at work spending time in Nashville, TN, Miami, FL and Tulsa, OK regularly for a few years. I also did a few other stops during those years. As a child, my family visited Mexico going across at Eagle Pass, TX and El Paso, TX but mostly we stayed in the US for family vacations. When my kids were young, we did the usual camping, site seeing and touring vacations that were within driving distance from our home. I have always loved to learn about other people, customs and local history.

This would be easier if there were questions that I could answer or fill in the blanks! LOL Ok, let's see, I am quite nosy about all things or just about all things. I don't know a lot about anything, it just seems like I collect snippets or bits and pieces of a variety of topics. I enjoy a good yarn and like to laugh at silly things. Life is way too short to constantly have to dwell on the lemons that are tossed your way. Or the heartaches. I have had my share of those too but I prefer not to allow myself the luxury of drowning in my sorrow. Although I have wished to be run over by a bus to end the pain a time or two.

Divorced, raised kids and have grandkids. They have their own lives. I participate but try to give them some breathing space. Since I am the only grandmother (the other two having passed already) I try to compensate and probably pester them too much.

My kids think I need to "get a life", so here I am .. on the flip side, looking for a life. Having lived quite a few years on my own makes me independant and self sufficient. Until I joined Eons, I recieved most of my dating advice from my two daughters who think they are experts on the subject. If you have ever taken advice from your kids, you know what I mean. *sigh*

Since joining Eons, I have taken up the matra of making friends online and then meeting them in real life. I started with the Texas Group. They are a great group of folks!

Then, I joined the Cruise & SKITS Group. I want to go places with the people I meet online. I love to travel and I love to cruise. I just got back from New Orleans Jazzfest with the group and I am going to Alaska in July with an even larger group. I can't wait!

If you like to meet others, join us and let's get going! Being a couch potato does not make me joyful. I needed to mix and mingle with others for real, not just online. So far, it has been a most satisfying and wonderful experience. I hope to have lots of stories to tell of adventures in the old folks home!  

UPDATE: I HAVE FOUND a nice guy that knows nice guys don't always finish last. The story goes on ... I married a fantastic man on Feb. 14, 2009. One that is so totally compatible with me  that it is shocking.

I don't often have time to get online now, he keeps me very busy. This is probably the first week end since we married that I have had a spare moment to tell all my friends at Eons my latest news!

Comedies and those with happy endings but the ones that stay with me longest and come to mind mostly are: On Golden Pond, Greedy, 11:14, and others in that same vein.

Those that make me laugh like anything by Janet Evanovich! The book I read most recently was the true story of Nancy Grace the White Mouse of WWII.
