More about me

How does it feel to be a very liberal transplant from Southern California to Central Wisconsin? Kinda good, actually. I have found a cadre of like-thinking people who join me in being a thorn in the side of the politically and religiously conservative folks that abound around here.

My favorite phrase is, "If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!"

My favorite quote is, "Be the change you want to see in the world" - Gandhi.

My second favorite quote is, "We do the best we can with what we know, and when we know better, we do better" - Maya Angelou.

One of the unintended consequences of moving from So Cal to Central Wisconsin was finding out that I have Seasonal Affective Disorder.

A positive outcome from that experience was learning so much about depression that I returned to college after 20 years to enroll at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh to complete my Bachelor's degree (Communications - Theatre Arts), and then my Master's in the Counselor Education program (kudos to Pete Havens, Peg Olson , Ken Morrison and Patricia Robertson), and am now working as a high school counselor in Wisconsin.

Loves: My life partner Mark, daughter Katie, Boston Terrier Chelsea and 2 cats Marv and Cosmo. My mom Betty and sisters Lee Ann and Sally. Mark's parents, Guy and Jean, and friend Shirley.

My best friend is Cheryl.

I LOVE being a high school counselor! I LOVE helping young people! I belong to the Wisconsin School Counselor Association.

Member of the Bread Basket (serving a free community meal weekly to anyone who comes), ACLU, and the Sierra Club.
