High School: New Albany High, New Albany, Indiana College Name: 1) Spencerian College 2) Thomas Moore College College Graduation Year: I graduated from Spencerian College as a medical assistant a long, long time ago. I returned to school part time and thirteen years later graduated from Thomas Moore College with honors with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Occupation(s): Wow, I have had several different career paths. I started out in the medical field and worked in a GP's office, moved to a vascular surgeon's office and then on to a cancer treatment center. Next, I moved into computers. I worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and then the Department of Housing. I managed the Freedom of Information report extracts and a national database. My final career path was moving to Purchasing. What better job for a woman than to spend all day shopping and spending money. In the blink of an eye, I have more than 20 years experience in this career field and still love it passionately. I am currently a Purchasing Manager. My career has given me the opportunity travel both domestically and internationally. The most exciting trip I've ever made was a two week trip to China. Of course I visited the forbidden city and saw the great wall. I also had the opportunity to go outside the big cities and see daily life first hand. This was one of the most interesting trips I've ever taken and cherish the memories.
- More about me
-
I have lived a charmed life. I have my health, the love of my family and curiosity that drives me to continue to grow and learn every day. Recently, I relocated to the Northern Kentucky area and am in the process of rebuilding my social network. This process is giving me the opportunity to touch base with friends left behind nearly ten years ago.
One of my LifeDreams is to become involved in volunteer opportunities, especially with young women or children, and give back to the community. I have rich life experiences to share and want to impact young lives and let them know there are many choices available to them for happiness.
My career has been demanding but I am starting to downshift and focus more on myself and happiness than the shareholder so I want to meet new people, experience new and different things, look at life through the eyes of others and expand my personal spirituality.
My current situation allows me to have friends and activities in two locations. I work Monday through Thursday in Louisville, Kentucky and spend weekends in Northern Kentucky. Death has taken many of my friends and I miss them dearly. Their loss has raised my awareness of the importance of stopping to smell the roses so I now have a long list of LifeDreams to accomplish and new friends to meet and learn from.
Things I love:
Day hikes to waterfalls and returning to an air conditioned cottage for laughter, conversation and relaxation. No tents please. I did that years ago. It was great then but I have evolved to having the best of both worlds, nature and comfort.
Muscle cars. They take me back to my high school days with Saturday afternoons at the local park waxing our freshly washed cars in preparation for cruzin' Saturday night then to the drags on Sunday. How simple life was then. We didn't date, just hung out together.
Antique shops. Not fine antiques, instead I focus on junk stores where I can dig around and look for my own special treasures that remind me of my childhood.
Family. I love spending time with my family. I have six grandchildren and another on the way. They frequently come over for a swim in the pool, hot dogs and games afterwards.
Friends. I enjoy making new friends as well as continuing to grow my relationships with my current friends. The only regrets I have in life are that I was conservative and did not take many risks. I don't hold on to regrets. Instead I look for the opportunities in life. My prior conservative nature has positioned to enjoy my "Golden Years" and do all the fun things I was too shy to do when I was younger.
