Places I've been

Being an Air Force brat, I lived in San Angelo Texas, Albany Georgia, Fairbanks Alaska, and Riverside California before I turned five years old.

My dad retired early from the military and I did most of my growing up on the edge of the California desert, near Beaumont. My mom moved to Berkeley CA when I was in college, so the Bay area became home. Since 1972 I've lived in Massachusetts.

I've traveled through 47 of the 50 states...have Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virgina still to see. Have traveled through all of the Canadian provinces except Nunavut and Labrador/New Foundland. Have visited Mexico and a few of the Caribbean islands. Have traveled through France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, Lichtenstein & Andorra.

Gosh, still so many places to experience!

More about me

I'm a cuspal Pisces, raised in California and been living in Massachusetts since right out of college...gosh, it's been more than 35 years back here!

My husband and I live with our two cats. We have two sons, both married, and one granddaughter.

I'm currently building up steam to complete a family genealogy that my mom started.

My mom always said that the two best things you can do for yourself are education and travel. And travel we did. My dad was in the Air Force. I was born in Texas and at age 1 1/2 traveled by car to Fairbanks, Alaska on the unpaved AL-CAN highway.

Dad was transferred to Southern California in 1954, and to get there we took the USNS Frederick Funston down the inside passage from Anchorage to Seattle. My first cruise. And I have been traveling, and especially sailing, every chance I get since.

One of my husband's and my favorite LifeDreams is to sell the house and buy a boat big enough to live on... then cruise the world.

  • Are you referring to the image at the top of the page? I found it on photobucket and thought it was a good choice for eons... kind of how I see myself as compared to how the world views me, thank you for the compliment.

  • Hi Susan- I opened an online bookstore 10 years ago- www.dirtcheapbuilder.com is the main site now. I sell books & DVDs all over the USA and the world. I am ready to retire- am bored now doing this so long. and I DON'T get to travel since the biz ties me down, so I am looking to sell off the biz, or close it slowly, and go to Scotland, and travel around the US in a "Middleage Walkabout". I NEED to be more social where I am but am not much of a 'joiner', so it's my fault for having few friends here. What are your travel plans?
