Hello, My name is Sharon Nusunginya and I live on the Kenai Peninsala, Alaska. I love my many pets; 20 or so birds, 3 dogs, 1 cat, and even our poultry which consists of 2 hens, 2 ducks, and 4 geese.
I had a massive stroke in March 2007 and was side-lined between 4 hospitals over 2 1/2 months. But, now I am back except for walking and am very glad to have found this space.
Nutrition has been a passions for me since 1964! If I am not on the internet I am studying about health and nutrition in books or watching good-quality tv programs.
I have 6 kids, 3 each boys/girls, 14 grandkids and several great-grandkids. All 3 boys including a pair of identical twins are Eagle Scouts!

Currently my life is kept busy with working on the computer, taking and enjoying an online course about Health Coaching, and reading many books. Occasionally, I watch some tv or movies. Since my stroke in March 2007 my active life transformed quickly to very sedentary, just about all I do is here at home.
- Favorite Charities

I have always been very civic minded and the stroke did not dampen my enthusiasm of helping my community and people, just my method of doing things and getting there. I am not sure if non-profit organizations quality as charities or not, but I am still active with Crimestoppers as the immediate past-president and current vice president. I also supported the Boy Scouts as I was the Chairman of our Troop for many years and supported the Western Alaska Boy Scout Council as chairman of the Activities committee for an area larger than one or two east coast states but less populated. Another favorite of mine is LOVE, INC and as a board member we tried to help many unfortunate people.

I am probably one of Amazon’s favorite people as I spend much of our money buying books from there. Most of the books I buy are informational about health and nutrition. I have bought a few politically-related books too. The most recent ones that I have read are: Authentic Happiness, Using the New Positive Psychology to Realize Your Potential for Lasting Fulfillment by Martin E. P. Seligman, Ph. D. and Co-Active Coaching, New Skills for Coaching People Toward Success, by Laura Whitworth. Those are both for my Health Coaching classes and are very interesting and useful. I have a stack almost two-feet high of books that I am in the process of reading and two boxes of books I have finished this year but want to have available for friends to borrow.

This is easy. I love Alaska! I have been fortunate to have traveled all through the state by car as far as above the arctic circle, as and as far east toe Canada, then as far south as we could drive; and to some places such as the North Slope and Barrow by plane, and the Southeast panhandle by ferry. We used to camp our way through the state for our vacations.
- Favorite Animals

This is another easy question! We have a houseful of animals! One of the drawbacks for many people who come here is the darkness we experience during the winter. Today (Dec. 14, 2008) sunrise was at 10:06 am and sunset will be at 3:52 pm for a total of 5 hours 46 minutes, a loss of one minute 25 seconds from yesterday). So, I really enjoy listening to my birds chatter. I have two African Grey parrots, two budgies (parakeets), 4 cockatiels, one dove, one lovebird, and several finches! With all that activity, it is hard to get depressed with the lack of light. I also have a cat, Katie, who we got in 1995. There are three resident dogs: Shadeaux, my toy poodle, is the most recent addition and just turned two, Tucker is an mix who we adopted many years ago. Cassie we adopted from the dog pound after Lady (yellow lab died at 17 years) died from old age.
